Apple recently launched the iPhone 15 Series including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices. While the iPhone 15 devices have their own share of attractions, rumors indicate that the iPhone 16 series might be even more exciting. For those who are willing to wait for an entire year, the rumor mill has some news that might blow their mind. Here are some expected iPhone 16 series upgrades that might just convince you to wait for one year to buy your iPhone.

1. Haptic/Solid-State Button

iPhone 15 Series now comes with an Action Button that has replaced the mute button present earlier. However, the physical volume buttons are still very much present on the iPhones due to manufacturing complexity, higher associated costs, and software integration issues. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will get a haptic/solid state button.

The solid-state buttons aren’t exactly buttons but panels with tactile feedback that simulate the sensations of traditional mechanical buttons. The solid-state buttons might also increase the dust and water resistance of the iPhone 16 Pro because there will not be any gaps for unwanted particles to slip through, so durability will increase.

2. Bigger Display Panel

Apple Analyst Ross Young claims that the tech giant might introduce even bigger iPhones next year. While Apple 4S launched in 2011 had a 3.5-inch display and now iPhone 15 series have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch panels. However Young says that Apple might launch iPhone 16 Pro with a 6.3-inch display while iPhone 16 Pro Max might have a 6.9-inch panel.

3. Under Display Face ID

Apple has already gotten rid of the notch across the entire iPhone line-up, the Face ID module with the front camera is still present at the top. That might change next year as Apple is working on introducing a full-screen iPhone in 2024. Ming-Chi Kuo claims that iPhone 16 models might have an under-display Face ID sensor. However, chances are high that Apple might need 2-3 years to make this a possibility so we might have to wait till 2025.

4. Better Processing Capability

iPhone always sets benchmarks in terms of processing performance and iPhone 16 is speculated to do even better. The new A17 chip might get integrated with augmented RAM to give a better performance. The upcoming A17 and A18 chipsets will use a new method from TSMC called the N3E process. This will make chipsets even better as SoCs will get faster and smoother.

The iPhone 15 Pro models come with 8GB RAM but by next year this might trickle down to base iPhone 16 Models. iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to get more RAM.

5. WiFi Upgrade

WiFi 7 technology is expected to arrive with the iPhone 16 Pro devices which would transmit data in 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands at the speed of 40Gbps. Networking speeds will increase and latency will be further lowered.

6. Other Upgrades

Apple iPhone 16 might go port-less next year with iPhone 16 Ultra ditching the USB-Type-C port too. Some reports claim iPhone 16 Pro Max might become iPhone 16 Ultra while others claim iPhone 16 Ultra will be an entirely new phone over and above the previous 4 models.

Don’t these rumors get you hyped for the iPhone 16 Series already? If these are indeed going to turn true, then one might just consider skipping the iPhone 15 Series altogether.
