It has hardly been two months since we reviewed the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Pro, and rumors about the iPhone 17 lineup have already surfaced online. Even though the lineup is supposed to come out in September 2025, there’s plenty of information about it, suggesting promising improvements for the iPhone 17 Pro models. Check out more details about the iPhone 17 series below.

iPhone 17 Roundup: Design

Apple analyst Jeff Pu (via a 9To5Mac report) has shared some details about a new investor note that the company has circulated. First up, the investor’s note mentions some details about the iPhone 17’s design.

It says that the upcoming iPhone models will feature an aluminum design, which will be more complex than the current-generation iPhone. However, the Pro variants will likely retain the titanium casing that they’ve featured for the last few years.

iPhone 17 Roundup: Display And Dynamic Island

With regards to the screen, the regular iPhone 17 could sport a 6.1-inch screen, while the rumored iPhone 17 “Slim” could come with a 6.6-inch screen. The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max are said to come with a 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screen, respectively.

Although there’s no word on the regular iPhones’ refresh rate, we would want to see a smoother display on the baseline iPhones. While the regular models will stick to the Dynamic Island we’ve known and seen so far, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will house a “narrowed” Dynamic Island.

This will be possible due to what the company calls “metalens” technology, which will reduce the size of the proximity sensor, reducing the overall footprint of the Dynamic Island on the top-specced iPhone.

iPhone 17 Roundup: Performance

Apple A18 chip for the iPhone 16 series

Like the iPhone 16 series, the iPhone 17 series will also debut with two new processors: the A19 and A19 Pro. Apple will build these chips on TSMC’s N3P fabrication technology, boosting the overall performance and reducing the power consumption simultaneously.

It is worth pointing out that the company isn’t willing to switch to TSMC’s 2nm fabrication technology until 2026, i.e., until the iPhone 18 rolls out. While the regular iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 “Slim” will stick with 8GB of RAM, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature 12GB of RAM (50% more memory than the iPhone 16 Pro models).

iPhone 17 Roundup: Optics

Regarding optics, the iPhone 17 series will swap out the current 12MP sensor for a better 24MP sensor, which will likely feature autofocus. Further, the Pro models will finally include a 48MP periscope sensor (limited to 12MP in the current generation).

What About The iPhone 17 Slim?

Per the latest information, the iPhone 17 Slim will measure 6mm in thickness. For reference, Apple’s thinnest product to date, the M4 iPad Pro, measures 5.4mm. The title for the thinnest iPhone rests with the iPhone 6, which had a 6.9mm thick chassis.

Even so, we’d wait for some more solid rumors about the iPhone 17 Slim before making up our minds about it.
