TL;DR
- The iPhone SE 4 will feature the same OLED screen as the baseline iPhone 14.
- Under the hood, the handset will feature the same A18 chip as the vanilla iPhone 16.
- The iPhone SE 4 could be the first handset to ship with Apple’s in-house modem codenamed “Centauri.”
After the iPhone 16 launch, the internet has been buzzing with leaks and reports about the purported iPhone SE 4. Apple hasn’t refreshed the SE series in two years. But that might change in 2025, as the Cupertino giant releases the iPhone SE 4 in a completely new avatar.
iPhone SE 4 To Borrow iPhone 14’s Display

According to a report by 9To5Mac, the iPhone SE 4 will feature the same OLED screen as the baseline iPhone 14. It would even borrow the resolution (1170 x 2532 pixels) from the 2022 iPhone model. The screen will also feature a notch at the top, where the phone will house the required Face ID sensors.
However, this means that Apple will bid farewell to the Home Button, which served its purpose well on iPhones over the years. The Dynamic Island, on the other hand, will remain exclusive to the newer models like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16.

First Special Edition iPhone To Support Apple Intelligence

Internally, ithe Phone SE 4 is codenamed “V59.” Under the hood, the handset will feature the same A18 chip as the vanilla iPhone 16 (review). While the chip will unlock top-tier performance, it will also power Apple Intelligence.
This really shows how the company sees the suite of GenAI features as the biggest selling point going forward. Powering the smartphone with the A18 chip will also give it a headstart, keeping the iPhone SE 4 relevant even after a few years.
Regarding optics, the upcoming SE model will feature the same primary and selfie camera as the iPhone 15. We’re talking about the 48MP main sensor and 12MP TrueDepth sensor on the 2023 iPhone model. Even though the phone won’t sport a secondary camera, Apple will use the high resolution to provide 2x lossless pictures.

iPhone SE 4 Could Also Feature Apple’s First 5G Modem

Apple has been trying to develop a 5G modem for years. Earlier this year, the company extended its license agreement with Qualcomm to use the company’s modems on its iPhones. However, the iPhone SE 4 could be the first handset to ship with Apple’s in-house modem codenamed “Centauri.” Besides 5G, the modem will also facilitate Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi.
Of course, Apple will benefit from developing its own 5G modem. Further, the publication claims that the new modem will help reduce battery consumption by a significant margin, especially when one enables Low Power Mode. It is important to mention here that the iPhone SE 4 would be the first smartphone to feature the company’s modem; instead of experimenting with the main iPhone lineup, the company chose the Special Edition iPhone.
With All The Upgrades, The iPhone SE 4 Might Cost More
The next generation of iPhone SE could debut in March or April 2025. Given that it would come with a plethora of hardware upgrades over the predecessor, the phone could arrive at an increased price, perhaps in the range of $50 to $100.
Currently, the 64GB variant of the iPhone SE 3 sells for Rs. 47,600 in India. However, for the iPhone SE 4, the company could increase the price to around Rs. 55,000. If that happens, we hope that it will provide at least 128GB of storage on the base model.
