The Chinese smartphone manufacturer iQoo will launch the iQoo 12 series in India next month. Ahead of the launch, the company has announced that “the upcoming flagship iQoo 12 will feature the all-new Android 14-based Funtouch OS.” Per iQoo, the operating system comes with all the new features introduced with Android 14 and a twist to deliver an enhanced and smooth user experience.

iQoo 12 Will Be The First Non-Pixel Phone To Ship With Android 14

In a press note, the company mentions that iQoo 12 will be the first non-Pixel smartphone to feature Android 14 out of the box. This is a big deal as the latest version of Android offers comes with several improvements. For those catching up, Google’s Pixel devices are the first to receive the latest Android updates, followed by rollouts from other manufacturers, including Samsung, OnePlus, Vivo, iQoo, etc.

New Features Include Smooth Envision, App Retainer, And More

The Funtouch OS 14 will come with features like Smooth Envision, which reduces the number of persistent processes and optimizes RAM usage for better performance and responsiveness. Then, a RAM saver feature adds up to 600MB of additional memory to devices with 8GB of RAM and above. Further, the App Retainer ensures that whitelisted apps that are not closed manually are restored to the last interface so users can resume where they left off.

The iQoo 12 powered by Android 14 will also have an upgraded small window feature with improved visibility of adjustment lines so that users can easily navigate and understand the adjustment range. “Users can keep up to 12 small windows active in the background, and the operating system offers support for side-swipe suspension, giving users more control,” adds iQoo. In addition, there’s a new non-interactive mini small window mode for scenarios when users don’t want to use an app actively but monitor the developments.
