TL; DR
  • Jaguar’s Type 01 electric GT makes 1,016 bhp from three motors.
  • It claims up to 720km of WLTP range and 350kW fast charging.
  • India launch is expected in 2027, around ₹2 crore, but unconfirmed.

Jaguar has finally shown the production car it has been teasing since the 2024 Type 00 concept: the Type 01. To me, it looks nothing like a Jaguar I remember, and looks like something straight out of a science fiction movie. India’s chances of getting it are the part worth reading carefully ahead, so be careful.

India Is Expected In 2027, Near ₹2 Crore

The brand itself hasn’t announced anything about the car’s arrival in India; there’s plenty of chatter online. Some reports suggest bookings could begin in early 2027, with the car unveiled in the first half of the year. Others point to a late-2027 arrival, following international deliveries by mid-2027.

However, neither side mentions that Jaguar will skip an Indian launch of its Type 01.

A Three-Motor GT That Trades Rear-Seat Space For Drama

Three motors, one at the front and two at the rear, make 1,016 bhp and 1,365 Nm, enough to sprint to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds. A 118kWh battery pack promises up to 720km of WLTP-tested range. The 850V charging system accepts 350kW charging, adding 321km in 13 minutes, which isn’t all that bad compared with the fast charging available on mainstream EVs in the country.

Styling stays close to the concept that was initially showcased. No rear windows, a camera feeding a digital mirror instead, and 23-inch wheels: that is what the Type 01 will offer.

However, from the design, the rear could be a tight space to fit in. Inside, a 24-inch OLED display faces four individual seats.
