Amid the rising competition in the global (and the Indian) automobile market, the Japanese carmakers Honda and Nissan have announced the signing of a potential merger. According to a report by the Economic Times, both companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The Companies Have Began Discussions About The Merger

They’ve officially begun the discussions regarding merging their businesses, creating a joint venture that brings in a revenue of 30 trillion yen (with an operating profit of 10%). The two companies will finalize the merger by June 2025, which is when a definitive agreement is supposed to be signed.

Following the signing, the companies will announce a joint share venture, which will eventually become the patent entity for both automakers. While Honda will get more seats on the venture’s board (given its massive size_, whether the companies will merge their brands or keep selling cars under Honda and Nissan separately is something that we’re yet to know.

Honda-Nissan Could Become The Third-Largest Automaker Post The Merger
