Jim Ryan To Step Down As Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO

Sony Interactive Entertainment, the parent company of PlayStation, will see a major change in leadership in the coming days. The company has published a press release clarifying when the change will take place and how it plans to cope with it. Meanwhile, PlayStation Plus subscribers will get access to three free games till November 6, 2023.

Jim Ryan To Step Down As CEO

On September 27, 2023, Sony announced that Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment and the head of PlayStation, will take his retirement in March 2024. During the transition, Hiroki Totoki, the Sony Group Corporation President, COO, and CFO, will take the position of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s chairman from October 2023. From April 1, 2024, Totoki will serve as the company’s interim CEO.

For those who’re catching up, Jim Ryan has been with Sony Interactive Entertainment for almost 30 years. He joined the company’s Europe-based legal entity in 1994. Since then, Ryan has worked in several senior positions, including President of SIEE, Head of Global Sales and Marketing at SIE, and Deputy President of SIE. Some popular products launched during Ryan’s time with the company include PS VR2 and PlayStation 5.

PlayStation Plus Free Games For October 2023

Meanwhile, Sony has also announced the PlayStation Plus free games for October 2023. This month, subscribers will get access to the Callisto Protocol (a survival horror video game) developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton.

Further, they can also play Farming Simulator 22, created and published by GIANTS Software. Last but not least, players can also get their hands on Weist West, developed by WolfEye Studios and published by Devolver Digital. These games will be available to claim from October 3, 2023, to November 6, 2023.
