Jio and Airtel could release hiked recharge plans by the end of this year. Like every other time, the companies want to increase the average revenue per user to boost their revenue. Here’s what the latest report suggests.

Jio And Airtel Could Launch New 5G Plans By The End Of This Year

According to a report by The Economic Times, Jio and Airtel are planning to release separate plans with 5G data instead of bundling the high-speed data in regular recharge plans. The new plans that might launch soon could have a higher price tag than the standard 4G plans. Per the report, the dedicated 5G plans could cost about five to 10 percent more than the usual plans customers are accustomed to.

The Plans Will Come At A Higher Price Point

Although the 5G rollout isn’t complete in India, Jio and Airtel plan to introduce the 5G plans by the second half of 2024. Like the previous times, the goal, this time, remains to increase the average revenue per user, also known as ARPU, through the new, more expensive plans. It is important to note that both telecom service providers have hiked the rates for their regular plans in recent times.

They Should Also Increase A Capped 5G Data Allowance

However, the pricier plans will reportedly offer 30 percent more data than the typical 4G plans. Usually, 4G plans offer 1.5GB to 3GB of data per day, which means that 5G plans will provide more data. Although, this also indicates that none of the companies will provide unlimited 5G data by the end of this year.

We speculate that the 5G plans could offer between 3GB and 10GB of data per day. Depending upon the daily allowance, the price of the plans could vary. Anyways, the higher data speed will drive more data consumption. Both companies have provided 5G data without additional costs for about a year. Hence, they already have a fair idea about the user patterns. With this, 4G plans could also witness a tariff hike by the end of this year.
