TL; DR
  • Among the key features of the XUV 3XO EV is an all-electric powertrain with an electric motor paired to the front axle (i.e., it’s a front-wheel-drive vehicle).
  • For performance enthusiasts, the vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in around 8.3 seconds.
  • While the XUV 3XO EV retains the exterior design of the ICE version, it offers features such as dual 10.25-inch screens, Level-2 ADAS (on the top trim), a sunroof, and a 360-degree camera, among others.

The Indian automaker Mahindra has launched a new electric car: the electrified XUV 3XO or the 3XO EV. Unveiled on January 6, 2026, the mid-sized eSUV will hit the roads from February 23, 2026. It competes directly with the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windsor EV, replacing the outgoing Mahindra XUV 400 in the company’s EV lineup.

Mahindra XUV 3XO: Key Features

Among the key features of the XUV 3XO EV is an all-electric powertrain with an electric motor paired to the front axle (i.e., it’s a front-wheel-drive vehicle). The motor produces 148bhp of peak power and 310 Nm of peak torque, which is on par with Mahindra’s most powerful ICE engine on the regular 3XO.

For performance enthusiasts, the vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in around 8.3 seconds. The single-motor draws power from the 3XO’s single 39.4 kWh battery pack. It’s a bit small compared to Mahindra’s flagship eSUVs, such as the BE 6 and the XEV 9e, which is why it might do well as a secondary car for local daily commutes but not as a highway commuter.

While official ARAI-tested figures are not yet available, the battery pack delivers up to 285 kilometers of real-world range. Furthermore, you can charge the battery using a 50kW DC charger, reaching 80% in about 50 minutes.

While the XUV 3XO EV retains the exterior design of the ICE version, it offers features such as dual 10.25-inch screens, Level-2 ADAS (on the top trim), a sunroof, and a 360-degree camera, among others.

Mahindra XUV 3XO: What It Means For The Indian EV Market

The XUV 3XO is a feature-rich, affordable, and practical electric SUV that bridges the gap between everyday usability and modern EV technology. It appears to be a bit too expensive for an EV with a 39.2 kWh battery pack, but it certainly offers loyal Mahindra customers an EV that could help offset the higher running costs of a petrol- or diesel-powered car in the city.

It would be interesting to see how the EV performs against the Tata Nexon EV (mid- and long-range variants) and the MG Windsor EV (another feature-rich option in the segment).
