After releasing the Dreame Edition for Alto and S-Presso in June 20sa24, Maruti Suzuki has now cut the prices for these vehicles. Two of the most affordable four-wheelers in India, Alto and S-Presso, belong to the entry-level hatchback segment, with the latter offering a raised ground clearance. The price cut aims to encourage more people to get the vehicles.

Discount On Alto K10 And S-Presso

Amid one of the worst sales slumps in the country, Maruti Suzuki has cut down the prices of Alto K10’s VXI variant by Rs. 6,500, bringing the ex-showroom price under Rs. 5,00,000. Similarly, the S-Presso LXi has also received a price cut of Rs. 2,000, which brings down its starting price just under Rs. 5,00,000. From what it looks like, the company wants to offer both Alto and S-Presso models at a similar price so that consumers can choose from the two.

The price reduction comes from the sales slump the automobile industry has hit in the past few months. In August 2024, the automaker witnessed a 3.9 percent decline in total sales, as the number of units sold went down from 189,082 to 181,782, which includes about 26,000 exported units. While models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and Fronx are doing well for the company, other models like Baleno, Dzire, and Celerio aren’t getting enough traction.

A lot is happening in the automobile industry of the country. While manufacturers have about Rs. 70,000 crores worth of stock standing in their yards, the Indian government is also pushing them to provide a 1.5% or Rs. 20,000 discount to customers ready to scrap their old cars. Meanwhile, there are plans to shift to petrol with higher concentrations of petrol, and, in the process, phasing out diesel cars that emit more pollutants than other vehicles.
