Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has crossed a major milestone in India, with cumulative sales of over 3 million units. The Dzire has been one of the most consistent sellers in the Indian market for years now, and this milestone further highlights how strong its position continues to be. According to the company, the car has remained the highest-selling sedan in India as well, supported by strong demand from both private buyers and fleet operators.

For Maruti Suzuki, the Dzire has been one of the most important models in its portfolio since its launch back in 2008. Over the years, the car has gone through four generations, with each update bringing new features, better efficiency, and improvements in safety. The current fourth-generation model is powered by the brand’s Z-Series petrol engine and comes with both petrol and CNG options.

Fuel efficiency is one of the biggest selling points of the Dzire. The petrol manual version delivers a claimed fuel economy of 24.79km/l, while the CNG variant is said to offer up to 33.7 km/kg! These are crazy numbers and it probably makes the Dzire the most fuel efficient sedans in the market.

The latest version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has also added several features that were earlier not in the previous generation. The car now offers a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and a 9-inch infotainment system which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
In terms of safety, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is 5-star rated in both BNCAP and Global NCAP. It comes with six airbags as standard along with electronic stability control, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
According to the company, nearly half of the buyers of the current generation Dzire are first-time car buyers, many of them young customers entering the car market for the first time. The Dzire’s journey in India has been interesting to watch. The first generation in a way made the compact sedan segment popular in the country. The second generation added the AGS automated manual transmission, while the third generation brought more premium touches like LED projector headlamps and upgraded infotainment systems.

While selling over 30 lakh cars is a massive milestone, it doesn’t come as a surprise. India pretty much runs on the Dzire. It is one of those cars that you see everywhere. In cities, villages, on highways, and especially in the cab market. Fleet operators love the car because it is reliable, efficient, and comfortable.
At the same time, the Dzire has also remained a popular choice for private buyers. For many Indian families looking for an affordable and practical car, the Dzire has always been a safe recommendation. It offers good fuel economy, decent space, and low maintenance costs, which are all things that matter a lot to buyers in this price range. And that is why crossing the 3 million sales milestone is less of a surprise and more of a confirmation of how important the Dzire has been for the Indian car market.
