MediaTek Dimensity 8000 could debut in Redmi K50 & Realme GT Neo 3 in early 2021

MediaTek is yet to announce its next flagship Dimensity 8000 chipset but rumour mills have already started churning out some leaks. One such bit of information suggests that Xiaomi and Realme will be the first in line to use the Dimensity 8000 SoC in their upcoming smartphones – the Redmi K50 series and Realme GT Neo 3 respectively.

The new revelation is made by the popular tipster Digital Chat Station who hinted at the arrival of the two smartphones from Xiaomi and Realme. While the source doesn’t indulge much information other than the two Redmi K50 lineup and Realme GT Neo 3 to be wielded on the Dimensity 8000 platform.

MediaTek Dimensity 8000 Expected Specs

MediaTek has commenced dropping hints on the Dimensity 8000 and is also said to launch the chipset as an affordable alternative to its newly launched premium Dimensity 9000 processor. While everything about the upcoming midrange silicon is under wrap, the processor is anticipated to be fabricated on a 5nm process node. It can arrive with a Mali-G510 MC6 GPU and is said to deliver better performance than Dimensity 1200. 

The Dimensity 8000 SoC is reportedly to support LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage standard. The device employing the chipset will boast a QHD+ display with up to a 165Hz refresh rate.

As far as the devices are concerned, the Redmi K50 will succeed the previously launched Redmi K40 which was rebranded as Xiaomi Mi 11x (Review) in India. While Realme GT Neo 3 will be a successor to the Realme GT Neo 2 (Review). The upcoming Dimensity 8000 is expected to boost the company’s portfolio in the midrange category.
