JSW MG Motor India has locked in April 20, 2026, as the official launch date for its flagship offering — the muscular Majestor. With a confirmed date, pre-bookings are already open at MG’s dealerships for Rs. 41,000. For those catching up, the Majestor slots above the Gloster in MG’s lineup and takes on the Toyota Fortuner directly.

What’s Powering This New Challenger?

Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine pushing out 213 bhp of peak power and 478 Nm of peak torque. The powerful engine is mated to an eight-speed torque-converter transmission. Buyers can choose between rear- and four-wheel-drive across three variants: Sharp 4×2, Savvy 4×2, and Savvy 4×4.
There are two seating configuration options for buyers: a six-seater or a seven-seater. On the outside, the Majestor wears a sharper look than the Gloster, with a broader and more aggressive front grille, revised LED lighting, and refreshed bumpers. The side profile is dominated by the styled alloy wheels and roof rails, while the back profile contains dual exhaust tips.

Does the Cabin Justify the Price Tag?
On the inside, the Majestor makes a reasonable case: premium upholstery, a large infotainment display, ADAS safety tech, and a panoramic sunroof. With expected pricing starting between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 45 lakhs (ex-showroom), MG is betting on a richer feature sheet and a modern design language to take on the Toyota Fortuner.
In my frank opinion, the MG Gloster never cracked the Fortuner’s loyal base despite competitive pricing. The Majestor seems to be a more deliberate and aggressive effort from the company. It is better positioned, better specced, and more spacious. Although I’m skeptical about whether MG would be able to grab a significant chunk of the Fortuner’s sales, Majestor’s arrival should surely compel Toyota to up its game (in terms of features).
