Xiaomi India has cut down the prices of its top performers of the year 2018. The announcement comes days after Xiaomi announced the increase in prices of its entry-level smartphones Redmi 6, Redmi 6A citing depreciation of Rupee as the reason.

The company’s Global VP and India MD, Manu Kumar Jain, took to Twitter to announce that as part of their celebrations for being the highest selling smartphone in India for continuous 5 Quarters, Xiaomi is slashing the prices of its best selling smartphones Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Y2 and Mi A2.

Xiaomi phones revised prices

All the phones get a price cut of Rs.1000 each. The updated prices are as follows

  • Mi A2 (4GB+64GB) – Rs.15,999
  • Mi A2 (6GB+128GB) – Rs.18,999
  • Redmi Y2 (4GB+64GB) – Rs.11,999
  • Redmi Note 5 Pro (4GB+64GB) – Rs.13,999
  • Redmi Note 5 Pro (6GB+64GB) – Rs.15,999

It is worth noting that the recently launched Mi A2 6GB variant has also received a permanent price cut. Xiaomi had claimed earlier that they will always stick to their commitment of not making more than 5% net profit from the overall hardware and this move seems to justify that as the prices of components reduce over time. This should be a good news for people who didn’t buy in Diwali sales.
