Mi TV Stick India Launch Date Set for 5th August

Xiaomi is all set for an action-packed first week of August 2020. That’s right, the Chinese giant plans to launch its Redmi 9 series in India on August 4 and on the very next day it will be launching the Mi TV Stick in the country.

The Mi TV India official Twitter handle posted a teaser of the Mi TV Stick on social media site with ‘Plug it, Make it Smart’, tagline.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi introduced the Mi TV Stick in Europe. The Android Based smart streaming stick is capable of streaming in 1080p resolution.

Xiaomi in recent times has been making a push to capture the smart accessories market. A couple of months back it launched the Mi Box in India and with upcoming Mi TV Stick it while taking on taking on Amazon Fire TV sticks (review), Tata Sky Binge+, Airtel Xtreme stick, and others in India.

Mi TV Stick Specs and Features

Just like any other Android TV-based dongle, the Mi TV Stick comes with an HDMI 2.0 port up-top. Xiaomi has powered the Mi TV Stick with a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at up to 2.0GHz, an ARM Mali-450 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of eMMC storage.

The Stick is based on Android TV 9.0 with built-in Chromecast support. The Indian variant of the Mi TV likely to come pre-installed with the Play Store and popular streaming apps, including YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and more.

There’s also a Bluetooth remote bundled within the box. The MI TV Stick remote has quick access buttons for Netflix and Prime Video. There is also a Google Assistant button on the remote for voice navigation.

The Mi TV Stick has dual-band WiFi (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks), Bluetooth 4.2, and a microUSB power port for connectivity. Xiaomi Mi TV Stick dongle is priced at 39.99 euros which roughly translates to Rs. 3,500. We expect Xiaomi to keep India price closer to Rs 2,000.
