Microsoft has announced that it will be implementing a price adjustment for its Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions, with the changes set to take effect next month. The price increase will be applicable worldwide, including India.

New Xbox Game Pass price In India

The current monthly subscription fee for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in India stands at Rs 499, while the new price will be Rs 549. Similarly, the price for Game Pass for Console, currently available at Rs 349, will be adjusted to Rs 379 from the following month. It is worth noting that there will be no changes to the pricing of PC Game Pass.

New members subscribing to Xbox Game Pass will experience the revised prices from July 6. However, existing customers who have opted for annual subscriptions will continue paying the current rate until their subscription renewal.

In addition to the subscription adjustments, Microsoft will also be increasing the price of its Xbox Series X console in various countries, starting in August. The United States, Japan, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia will be exempted from these changes, while official communication from Microsoft regarding the price adjustments in other countries is still pending.

Kari Perez, head of communications for Xbox, explained that Microsoft has maintained its console prices for an extended period and has now decided to align them with the competitive conditions prevailing in each market. The report further mentions that the new pricing for the Xbox Series X console is expected to closely resemble the price hike introduced by Sony for the PS5 last year.

Currently, the Xbox Series X is priced at Rs 49,990 in India, whereas the Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is available at Rs 54,990. However, Microsoft has confirmed that it will not be increasing the price of the Xbox Series S.

These price adjustments from Microsoft were anticipated following Sony’s price increase last year, and Xbox chief Phil Spencer had also hinted at the possibility of subscription price adjustments back in October.
