TL; DR
- The Apple Vision Pro 2 will feature Apple’s M5 chip which could bring Apple Intelligence, better spatial computing, and better navigation.
- Apart from the chip, the Apple Vision Pro 2 will remain largely unchanged, including the price.
- The mass production of the headset is expected to start in the second half of 2025.
The Apple Vision Pro 2 is reportedly entering mass production in the second half of next year and will feature the next-gen M5 chip, according to Ming-Chi Kuo. This would be a substantial upgrade over the M2-powered first-gen Vision Pro.

Although we don’t have many specifics on the M5, it will surely surpass the already powerful M4 chip in the Apple Silicon lineup. Kuo suggests that other than the internal chip upgrade, the design and specs of the Vision Pro 2 will remain largely unchanged.
The device may be priced similarly to the first Vision Pro at around $3,500. Zhaowei Electromechanical is a new entrant in Apple’s supply chain for Vision Pro 2 components. However, Kuo suggests that these new suppliers need to be attracting investors for future expansion.

Kuo also speculates that OpenAI models like Sora could be integrated into the Vision Pro 2 for video generation. Sora is a text-to-video generation model that could be used to generate and watch videos on the Vision Pro 2. Whether this, and the Apple Intelligence features, would be coming to the first-generation Vision Pro or not is still a mystery.
Despite these upgrades, Vision Pro 2 may still struggle to reach mainstream adoption unless Apple introduces significant changes or lowers the price. The first-generation Vision Pro with the M2 chip has already faded from the spotlight. This raises the question of whether the Vision Pro 2 will succeed or not, especially with that heavy price tag.
