Motorola has officially announced that the Razr 40 series will make its debut in India on July 3. The launch event will be attended by Motorola’s global president Sergio Buniac, CMO and head of strategy Francois LaFlamme, and head for customer experience and design Ruben Castano. Prashanth Mani, the brand’s Asia Pacific executive director, and head of marketing Shivam Ranjan will also be present at the event.

The Motorola Razr 40 series consists of two models: the entry-level Motorola Razr 40 and the high-end Razr 40 Ultra. Both foldable “flip” phones will be available for purchase on Amazon, Reliance Digital stores, and other leading retail outlets, as confirmed by Motorola.

The flagship model, Razr 40 Ultra, boasts the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and features an expansive 3.6-inch cover display. On the other hand, the Razr 40 is equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor and a smaller 1.5-inch cover screen.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra sports a 6.69-inch 1080p LTPO AMOLED display with a fast 165Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400nits of peak brightness. It supports HDR10+ playback and features a 3.6-inch cover screen, the largest in its class.

The flip phone is designed with a back made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and a frame made of 7000-series aluminum. Motorola has implemented a gapless design with a teardrop hinge and ensured an IP52 water-repellent rating.

In terms of camera capabilities, the Razr 40 Ultra includes a dual-camera setup with a 12MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens, which can also function as a macro lens. The front-facing camera boasts a 32MP sensor.

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, accompanied by a 3,800mAh battery with 30W wired charging and 5W wireless charging support.

Meanwhile, the Razr 40 features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Its cover screen measures 1.5 inches. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor and houses a 4,200mAh battery. For photography, it offers a 64MP primary camera and a 13MP ultrawide lens. A 32MP selfie camera is located on the front.

The Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra were initially launched in China in early June. The timing of the India launch indicates Motorola’s intention to compete with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, set to be unveiled in late July, and potentially steal some of Samsung’s thunder in the foldable phone market.
