At a time when many anticipated its exit from India, Nissan has unveiled its next offering for the market – the Nissan Tekton. The Nissan Tekton will be a mid-size compact SUV rivaling the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, and the likes. Expected to launch in India in January 2026, the Nissan Tekton has been hailed as a “baby Patrol” ahead of its launch.

Nissan Tekton Exterior Details – Baby Patrol in the Making

The Nissan Tekton’s design elements have been teased by the brand, showcasing a C-segment SUV styling, which looks similar-sized to the Creta. The brand’s senior design director, Ken Lee, even stated that the Tekton’s design is greatly inspired by the Nissan Patrol. The grille looks inspired by the large SUVs grille and the C-shaped design elements make it look like a baby patrol in styling.

The car also looks quite stylish and angular from the back side. The teasers show connected headlamps and rear lamps, both forming a sort of a “C” shaped motif, which again is similar to the Nissan Patrol.

There are some other design elements teased by the brand. The side profile showcases a shape similar to the smaller Nissan Magnite, but with a lot more chunk. The front and rear bumpers get a dual-tone black and silver finish. The rear lamps, however, also look similar to the VW Taigun.

Nissan Tekton Interior and Features – Should Hyundai, Kia Up Their Game?

Nissan has also teased the interiors of the upcoming Tekton SUV. As per the images, the interiors are getting a three-tone finish. While we have not seen everything properly in detail, we can see that the dashboard has three tones, with a blue-ish tone on the top that looks soft touch, there is a bronze strip running across the dashboard from the middle of the AC vents. And then at the bottom, we have black panels which look like hard plastic, but could very well be soft touch as well.

Nissan Tekton Engine And Drivetrain – What To Expect

Now this is something there is no word on. Nissan has not revealed what kind of engine and drivetrain options the Tekton will come with. While the brand has not said anything officially yet, we are expecting a 1.5 litre four cylinder petrol engine to be part of the lineup. There is no word on if Nissan will be bringing a diesel engine with the Tekton SUV.

Nissan and Its India Plans

Now this announcement comes at a time when many people were expecting Nissan to slowly make its way out of the Indian market, given the performance in the last few years. Nissan’s last launch in the country was the Nissan X-Trail, for which, the brand brought in limited CBUs, targeting the premium SUV market. While that strategy didn’t work, Nissan has now announced a product in a more popular segment.

The brand is also expected to bring the new Duster to our market, which will also be based on the same platform as the upcoming Nissan Tekton. In terms of pricing, we are expecting a starting price of under ₹15 lakh.
