TL; DR
  • Nothing will not launch a new flagship smartphone in 2026, according to Carl Pei.
  • The Nothing Phone 3 will continue as the company’s flagship throughout 2026.
  • The next true flagship, likely the Nothing Phone 4, is now expected in 2027.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that there will be no new flagship smartphone launch from the company in 2026. During the interview, Pei clearly stated that the Nothing Phone 3 (review) will remain the brand’s flagship device for this entire year.

This means there will be no Nothing Phone 4 in 2026, pushing the next flagship cycle to 2027. Pei reiterated that Nothing does not want to release a flagship every year just to match industry timelines. Instead, the company prefers longer cycles where upgrades feel more “significant”.

The strategy mirrors what happened previously with the Nothing Phone 2, which remained on the market for an extended period before Phone 3 arrived. As a result, Phone 3 will continue to receive focus through software updates, including Nothing OS 4.0 and new Essential apps features.

These Essential apps, which allow users to create apps and widgets through prompts, will initially remain exclusive to Phone 3 and are currently moving from alpha to beta.

During the interview, they’ve also acknowledged that this approach will likely trigger strong reactions online. However, they emphasized that Nothing is deliberately avoiding predictable flagship refreshes. For 2026, Phone 3 is it.
