Nothing Phone (2) Major Software Update 2.5.5 rolled out: ChatGPT integration, RAM Booster introduced

Carl Pei’s Nothing recently launched the affordable Nothing Phone 2a and two new TWS Buds in India and globally. Now, Nothing has finally rolled out a major software update for Nothing Phone 2. The Nothing OS 2.5.5 is a substantial update that introduces various new capabilities to enhance the user experience. Nothing OS 2.5.5 comes with updates like ChatGPT integration, camera enhancement, RAM booster, various bug fixes, and much more.

Let us have a look at all the new features Nothing OS 2.5.5 has received-

ChatGPT integration- Nothing Phone (2) has received ChatGPT integration from the Google Play Store. The Nothing X application for Nothing TWS comes with a gesture to initiate a voice conversation with ChatGPT. The ChatGPT widgets on the OS Home screen can be used to access the chatbot. Also, screenshot and clipboard pop-up comes with a button to share content with ChatGPT so you can carry a conversation around the same.

Camera App updates- The photo and portrait modes in the camera app have a new HDR switch toggle now so users can enable it as per need. Nothing has introduced a TrueLens engine that includes UltraXDR, P3 color coverage, and even more true-to-life tones. In camera settings, you now get the UltraXDR option which has been made in association with Google. It can capture 8 frames of a photograph in RAW format and then the brightness can be adjusted for each pixel up to 5x to bring proper highlights and shadows.

RAM Booster- In the Settings menu, within System settings, there is a new RAM Booster option that can free up unused memory, and Nothing Phone (2) will feel faster.

Sound Updates– In the sound section, there is a Ring Mode that allows better sound management. A new recorded widget has also been introduced that lets you record audio.

Battery Updates- There is a new battery widget as well so you can keep a check on battery level and power usage.

Glyph Interface updates- A glyph interface debug mode has been made available in Developer options. This lets app developers have more control over Glyph UI.

Connectivity updates– NFC, WiFi, and overall system stability have been improved by fixing various internal issues. Bluetooth quick settings animation has been made better as well.

Widgets- Animation while opening apps and widgets have been optimized. Also, the clarity of the Album artwork on the Music Player Widget has been made better.

SIM Card Updates- Switching SIM cards with data during calling feature has been enabled.

Installing Nothing OS 2.5.5 on Nothing Phone (2)

The entire update size is 206MB. Make sure your Nothing Phone (2) is charged and data is backed up safely before you start the update process. Follow these steps to install the update-

  • Go to the ‘Settings’ menu of the device.
  • Go to ‘System’ and then the ‘System Update’ option.
  • You will see a new update, download it.
  • Your phone will boot during the installation process. Once it boots to the lock screen, unlock and find the new OS with all the new features.
