The London tech startup, Nothing, loves teasing its new products way before their actual launch. And it’s no different with the Nothing Phone (3) and NothingOS 3.0. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the company’s co-founder and CEO confirmed that the Nothing Phone (3) won’t arrive until next year.

The post primarily talked about AI and how the company is looking forward to integrating AI into its software, NothingOS. Nothing is working on a new home screen AI that will summarize everything that you want to know from your apps.

Basically, the AI will understand what’s important for you and show it on your home screen. For example, the AI can show your flight tickets, relevant content you might be interested in, priority messages, and more. Nothing calls this AI “Dynamic and context-aware.”

Nothing suggests that they don’t want NothingOS to merely be a launcher; they want it to be more than just a launcher. That’s why they’re also bringing personalized AI assistants to NothingOS. These assistants can perform tasks like planning a family trip for you or just providing a friend to talk to. Honestly speaking, this just seems like a rebadged version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT voice conversations.

Nevertheless, the company has said that they will take the time needed to make these AI features even better. The company’s co-founder, Ekas, said, “This is early exploration – one concept among many. We will take the time needed to make it right. Think of it as a general direction – creating an interface that is dynamic in order to make it highly personalized and contextualized.”

When can you expect these AI features on your Nothing phone? Nothing has not given a specific timeline, but they’ve confirmed that these features will arrive with the Nothing Phone (3) next year. It looks like they are also planning to launch a few more color variants of the Phone (2a).

One thing is clear—the Nothing Phone (3) has been postponed to next year. The other thing, though, is that we’re not entirely sure. Although the AI features will be featured on NothingOS 3.0, it is unconfirmed whether the company will release NothingOS 3.0 without AI features this year or not (for existing phones).

Just to remind you, the company has teased a few products that could arrive later this month or next month. However, these are not what you might be thinking. All of these products are rumored to be CMF (Nothing’s spin-off brand) products, including the CMF Phone (1), CMF Buds 2 Pro, and a CMF Watch.

What’s your take on this? Do you think the company should be delaying the launch of its most anticipated phone? Let us know in the comments section below.
