OnePlus has taken the wraps off the OnePlus 15 in China, and it looks like the company is starting a new chapter. The new flagship ditches the long-running Hasselblad camera partnership, introduces a new in-house imaging engine, and packs a colossal 7,300mAh battery that makes rivals look tiny.
It also comes with a new name. Yes, OnePlus skipped the number 14 entirely (the number 4 is considered unlucky in China), jumping straight from last year’s OnePlus 13 (review).
OnePlus 15 gets a New Camera; DetailMax replaces Hasselblad
The most significant change is on the back. The Hasselblad logo is gone. In its place, OnePlus is debuting its own imaging engine, called DetailMax (it’s known as “Lumo” in China).
The new square camera module houses three 50-megapixel sensors: a primary, an ultrawide, and a telephoto. While the sensors are reportedly smaller than last year’s, OnePlus is betting that its new DetailMax software can deliver a better-looking photo. The front camera remains a 32-megapixel sensor.

OnePlus 15 Display and Hardware
OnePlus is ditching the curved-edge display for an entirely flat 6.78-inch screen. It’s a strategic trade-off. The new panel is a super-fast 165Hz BOE X3 display, but the resolution is now 1.5K (1272 x 2772), a slight step down from the 2K/QHD+ screen on the OnePlus 13. The upside is a sleek, uniform look, with razor-thin 1.15mm bezels on all four sides, making the phone feel smaller than its predecessor.
Under the hood, it’s all new. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and runs Android 16 (with ColorOS 16 in China).
The main story, however, is the 7,300mAh battery, one of the largest on the market. It’s paired with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

OnePlus Ace 6 (aka the OnePlus 15R)
The Ace 6 is the battery king. It boasts a mammoth 7,800mAh cell, even larger than the flagship’s. It also gets 120W wired charging, but to save costs, it drops wireless charging. It makes other smart compromises. It uses last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite (the same chip in the OnePlus 13). A slightly larger 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED, but it keeps the fast 165Hz refresh rate.
The camera system is a clear step down. It features a capable 50MP main sensor but pairs it with a basic 8MP ultrawide and a 16MP selfie camera. The OnePlus Ace 6 will follow, launching in China on October 30.
