The OnePlus 6T (review) is currently also available in Mirror Black, Thunder Purple, and Midnight Black. OnePlus in an official statement has said that it will “incorporate both McLaren Automotive and McLaren Racing.” The idea behind this collaboration is a ‘Salute to Speed’ which is something both brands like to associate themselves with.

OnePlus is not really the first smartphone maker to collaborate with an Automobile giant. In the past various smartphone brands like Huawei, Oppo and Blackberry have used supercars branding to push limited editions of their flagship. For instance, there is a Porche Design Huawei Mate 20 RS and Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition. The upcoming OnePlus 6T McLaren edition is first OnePlus phone with such a collaboration.

OnePlus and its collaborations

In the past, OnePlus has collaborated with Hollywood studios like Marvels Cinematic Universe and Lucas Flims and renowned Designer Houses like Jean-Charles de Castelbajac or Paris-based retailer Colette.
