Materials
The Nord 5 features Gorilla Glass 7i on the front, along with a glass back and a plastic frame. This is slightly disappointing, as the Nord 4 featured a metallic back.
The Edge 60 Pro also features Gorilla Glass 7i on the front, a silicone polymer (eco leather) back, and a plastic frame.
Design

Both phones feature a punch-hole screen. While the Nord 5 features symmetrical bezels on all sides with a flat screen, the Edge 60 Pro features minimal bezels on the top and the bottom, with a quad-curved screen (which further decreases the bezels).
On the back, the Nord 5 features a vertically-aligned pill-shaped camera module (with blacked-out interiors), while the Edge 60 Pro houses a square-shaped camera module that protrudes ever so slightly from the back panel. The Nord 5 features a 10-bit 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,272 pixels (450 ppi), a refresh rate of up to 144Hz (60/90/120/144), and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Additional features include support for sRGB and DCI-P3 (100% coverage) color gamuts, an instant touch response rate of up to 3,000 Hz, and 3,840 PWM dimming.
In comparison, the Edge 60 Pro boasts a 10-bit 6.7-inch pOLED panel with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels (446 ppi), a refresh rate of up to 120Hz (LTPS panel), and a local peak brightness of 4,500 nits (limited to 1,400 nits in the high-brightness mode). Additional features include 100% DCI-P3 coverage, an instant touch response rate of 1,500 Hz, and 720Hz PWM dimming.
Although both screens support HDR10+ for viewing content via OTT platforms, the Nord 5 has a better screen on paper. Both phones feature a stereo speaker setup.

Under the hood, the Nord 5 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 (4nm) chipset, which features one 3.0 GHz prime core and Adreno 735 GPU, alongside up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The phone is available in the following configurations: 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB.

In contrast, the Edge 60 Pro relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme (4nm) processor, which features a 3.35 GHz prime core and the Mali-G615 GPU, alongside up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage (faster than Nord 5).
The handset is available in three configurations: 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 16GB + 512GB.
While the Nord 5 scores around 1.5 million points in the AnTuTu 10 benchmark, the Edge 60 Pro scores around a million points. On GeekBench 6, the Nord 5 scores around 2,000/5,110 points, while the Edge 60 Pro scores around 1,400/4,470 points. Moreover, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is substantially more powerful than the Dimensity 8350 Extreme chip.

OnePlus Nord 5 vs. Moto Edge 60 Pro: Software

Out of the box, the Nord 5 runs on OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15, which offers features like AI Plus Mind (a personal AI assistant) that captures, organizes, and understands the content on your screen. Other features include AI Search, AI Class Assistant & Translation, AI Reframe, AI Eraser, and AI Unblur.
The Nord 5 also supports Google’s Gemini AI assistant. Last but not least, OnePlus has promised to provide at least four generations of major operating system updates and six years of security updates from the day of launch, which is quite good.

On the other hand, the Moto Edge 60 Pro runs on Hello UI based on Android 15. While the phone comes pre-loaded with some third-party applications, you can install most of them. Among the key AI-based features on the device are Catch Me Up (for summarizing notifications), Group Shot (for improving group pictures), Magic Eraser in Google Photos, and Circle to Search.
The device features a dedicated Moto AI button that can be assigned to various AI tasks. Further, Motorola has promised to provide three years of operating system updates and four years of security fixes with the Edge 60 Pro.

While the Edge 60 Pro might offer a better camera setup, the Nord 5 takes it back with a massive 6,800 mAh battery that supports 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging, which takes the phone from one to 100% in about 54 minutes (adapter included in the box).
For light use, the phone should easily last users two entire days, while moderate usage could reduce the battery life to a day and a half. The battery also supports bypass charging.
The Edge 60 Pro sports a slightly smaller 6,000 mAh Si/C battery that supports faster 90W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.
During our time with the smartphone, it provided around eight to nine hours of screen-on time with moderate use, while the 90W fast charger included in the box charges the phone in around 45 minutes.

Connectivity options on the Nord 5 include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.4, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, an IR Blaster, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port.
The Edge 60 Pro also provides similar connectivity features, except it supports Wi-Fi 6e (slightly faster) instead of Wi-Fi 6.
