OnePlus has officially confirmed that its TV will first launch in India next month on Amazon.in. Last week, the company confirmed the existence of its TV project and talked about the logo of the upcoming OnePlus TV.

“Over the past 6 years, we have achieved great success in India in large part because of our passionate and supportive community. Even after all these years, we’re excited to explore exciting new opportunities hand-in-hand with you. The OnePlus TV is such an important product for all of us, and we can’t wait to see it in living rooms all over India.” said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in a forum post.

With increased penetration of the internet and increased adoption of OTT services, the TV landscape in India is going through a dynamic transformation. The Jio Fiber Plans (with bundled 4K Set-top box) will go live next month and is likely to remodel the entertainment industry in a significant way. Or in other words, the time is ripe for OnePlus to step in.

An important step towards IoT and Smart Homes

OnePlus will lay special emphasis on display quality and connectivity for its Smart TV.  Pete believes that our TVs will be the hub of Smart Homes and also serve as our “smart social hub”.

“The OnePlus TV is an important step towards OnePlus being involved in the world of IoT and interconnectivity.” he further added.

OnePlus TV will come bundled with content services (we are guessing Amazon Prime is included) as Pete states that the company has had “a very positive relationship with content providers in India”.

OnePlus TV Global Availability

After India, the OnePlus TV will launch in North America, Europe, and China regions. The time frame for the global release hasn’t been revealed yet.
