The murders will continue, and so will the investigations of the trio of Mable, Oliver, and Charles, who will be back for the fifth time with Only Murders in the Building Season 5. The comedy thriller series that wrapped up its 4th season in September 2024 will be back for the 5th instalment after a year, as it will premiere in September 2025. After solving the murder mystery of Sazz Pataki, body double of Charles, the hilarious trio will uncover the secrets behind doorman Lester’s death in the upcoming season.

Similar to the previous four successful seasons, the fifth season will also stream on JioHotstar. The season will hit the streamer on 9th September with 3 episodes streaming on premiere day, followed by weekly episode drops post that. The show will end on 28 October and have 10 episodes.

While the trailer hasn’t been released yet, a promotional clip gives us a glimpse into what to expect from the fifth season. The clip shows the unmistakable comic timing of Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, who also announced the return date of the show to be 9th September and streaming on Hulu.

The show will star Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Marti, along with Renee Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, Jermaine Fowler, Bobby Cannavale, Tea Leoni, and Diane West. It also stars Meryl Streep, Nathan Lane, Michael Cyril Creighton, Jackie Hoffman, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who have been on and off in the last four seasons.

In Season 5, Charles, Mable, and Oliver will investigate the suspicious death of Doorman Lester. The trio’s search will uncover dangerous connections involving billionaires, mobsters, and the evolving New York scene. Along the way, they will come face to face with evolving dynamics of New York, where traditional crime families clash with a wave of dangerous new players.

The 4th season saw crime podcast trio Charles, Mabel, and Oliver figuring out who killed the former’s friend and stunt double, Sazz, throwing her down the trash chute with the incinerator. The fifth season will see the death of everyone’s favorite doorman, Lester, who is found dead in the fountain, and his demise may or may not have a connection to the disappearance of a man that Charles, Mable, and Oliver had been asked to investigate, but turned down since he is not a resident of Arconia.

Season 1-The show follows three strangers living in the same NYC apartment building, the Arconia. Bonded by their shared obsession with true crime podcasts, they become entangled in a real murder when their neighbor, Tim Kono, is found dead in his apartment.
Season 2- The show sees the trio come together to investigate the murder of Bunny Folger, the Arconia board president, found dead in Mabel’s apartment.
Season 3- The trio comes back together to investigate the murder of diva actor Ben Glenroy, who collapses on stage, but miraculously returns, only to be found dead later at the post-down Arconia afterparty.
The show has an IMDb rating of 8.1 out of 10 and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has received seven Emmy nominations in 2025, including one in the best comedy series category.
