After a week with the OPPO F31 Pro+, it comes across as an interesting mid-range device priced from ₹32,999. Its rugged build, massive battery, and practical features make it a phone designed for everyday challenges. It doesn’t try to overpromise but aims to deliver consistent reliability.

Of course, no phone is perfect. While the F31 Pro+ gets many things right, a few refinements would make it even more appealing. Here’s my quick review on what I liked about the F31 Pro+ and what could’ve been better.

What I Liked

1. Eye-Catching Design

OPPO F31 Pro+

The F31 Pro+ looks premium from the moment you hold it. The OPPO Glow finish in Gemstone Blue and Himalayan White shifts elegantly in light, giving it a flagship-like presence.

At just 7.7mm thin and 195g, it feels surprisingly lightweight for a phone with such a large battery. With its flat AMOLED panel and high screen-to-body ratio, the design feels modern and practical for extended use.

2. Beautiful Display

OPPO F31 Pro+

The 6.8-inch AMOLED screen offers FHD+ resolution, 1.07 billion colors, and a 120Hz refresh rate. With peak brightness reaching 1600 Nits, outdoor visibility is excellent. OPPO also integrates 2160Hz PWM dimming, making long viewing sessions easier on the eyes. Paired with stereo speakers that push 300% ultra volume, the overall multimedia experience is also nice.

3. Built for Durability

OPPO F31 Pro+

The F31 Pro+ is one of the toughest phones in its price segment, rated IP66, IP68, and IP69, and resistant to 18 everyday liquids like coffee or soda. Its 360-degree Armour Body uses aerospace-grade alloy and MIL-STD-810H protection. It also has features like Glove Mode and Splash Touch to let you keep using it in rain or with gloves on.

4. Outstanding Battery Life

OPPO F31 Pro+

The 7000mAh battery is the clear highlight. On heavy usage, it delivers 10–12 hours of screen-on time, while moderate use stretches it across two full days. OPPO’s bionic repair technology helps with long-term durability, promising consistent performance even after years of use. And with bypass charging included, heat management during intensive tasks like gaming is truly excellent.

5. Fast Charging

OPPO F31 Pro+

Despite the massive battery, charging is quick. The 80W SUPERVOOC system delivers 50% in just 30 minutes and a full charge in just over an hour. OPPO says it works consistently across a wide temperature range, from -20°C to 43°C.

6. Smooth Performance

OPPO F31 Pro+

The OPPO F31 Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, built on a 4nm process that keeps everything running smoothly. It comes with up to 12GB RAM (expandable to 24GB) and UFS 3.1 storage, great for futureproofing also.

The Trinity Engine is also here but what’s special is a 5,219mm² vapor chamber cooling system that ensures stability even under load. OPPO is also promising a 72-month smoothness certification. So, you’re covered here as well.

7. Smooth Software with Useful AI

OPPO F31 Pro+

ColorOS 15 keeps things smooth and efficient, but the F31 Pro+ only gets 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches, which is low given the asking price. The day-to-day performance is excellent though. There are some ads but you can disable them.

The OPPO F31 Pro+ is packed with AI tools that stand out, with VoiceScribe for real-time call translations and summaries, AI Editor 2.0 with features like Unblur, Eraser, and Clarity Enhancer, and Gemini & Circle to Search integration too. Underwater photography mode adds a fun extra.

8. Reliable Connectivity

OPPO F31 Pro+

The Hunter Antenna Architecture and NetworkBoost Chip S1 help maintain strong connectivity. The phone comes with 5G++ and DSDA dual-SIM support, making it well-equipped for demanding network use.

Outdoor Mode 2.0 helps optimize app visibility, notifications, and sound for delivery workers or commuters who often work in less-than-ideal conditions. I can see this as a very helpful feature for gig workers.

What Could’ve Been Better

1. Addition of UW Camera

The 50MP OIS main camera and 32MP selfie lens are solid for everyday use, but the absence of an ultrawide lens limits flexibility. The 1/2.88-inch sensor size also feels a step behind some rivals in low light at this price. Nonetheless, the shots taken on the main camera are beautiful.

2. UI Animations

The phone feels fluid overall, but the animations could certainly be better. Transitions like Gaussian blur or wallpaper scaling, which the hardware could easily handle, are missing when opening and closing apps. It’s a small detail, but noticeable.

3. Video Stabilization

While stabilization works well at lower resolutions, 4K video recording could be smoother, especially during fast motion. It’s not a dealbreaker for casual users, but video-focused buyers might expect more.

4. Haptic Feedback

The vibration motor does the job for alerts, but it isn’t a linear motor. As a result, feedback feels less refined compared to competitors with stronger, sharper haptics.

Should You Buy the OPPO F31 Pro+?

OPPO F31 Pro+

If you value durability, long battery life, and reliable performance above all, the OPPO F31 Pro+ is one of the most dependable mid-range phones you can buy. It feels like a device built with real-world users in mind.

Still, it’s not without compromises. The lack of an ultrawide lens, average haptics, and less refined UI animations make it feel less polished than it could be. Alternatives like the OnePlus Nord 5, vivo T4 Pro, and iQOO Neo 10 might be worth considering.
