They say foldable phones are the future, and two giants, OPPO and Samsung, are battling it out with their latest offerings. The OPPO Find N5, launched globally recently, claims the title of the world’s thinnest foldable, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, released in July 2024, remains a popular choice in India.

Though the Find N5 hasn’t hit Indian shores yet (might never), let’s compare these two to see which one might suit you best. Priced at S$2499 (~₹1,61,000), the Find N5 is a premium contender, while the Z Fold6 starts at ₹1,49,999. Let’s break it down.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Design and Build

Galaxy Z Fold6 is slightly unfolded and seen from a slanted angle.

The OPPO Find N5 is an engineering marvel—razor-thin at 8.9 mm folded and just 4.2 mm unfolded, it’s noticeably slimmer than the Z Fold6’s 12.1 mm folded and 5.6 mm unfolded. Weighing 229g, it’s also 10g lighter than Samsung’s 239g.

OPPO uses a Nanocrystal Glass front (folded), a glass or vegan leather back, and a titanium alloy hinge that’s 3D-printed for durability and finesse. The crease? Almost invisible, a huge win for foldable fans.

OPPO Find N5 thickness and weight

The Galaxy Z Fold6 sticks to a more traditional foldable design with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both sides and an aluminum frame. It feels sturdy but bulkier, and the crease is more pronounced—something Samsung hasn’t fully cracked… yet.

Both phones are water-resistant, but OPPO’s IPX8/IPX9 rating beats Samsung’s IP48, offering better protection against high-pressure water jets. If you want sleek and modern, the Find N5 wins; if rugged reliability is your thing, the Z Fold6 holds its own.

OPPO Find N5 water resistsance

It’s important to note that the upcoming Z Fold7 is rumored to be 9.8 mm when folded and just 4.5 mm when unfolded. While still not as thin as the OPPO Find N5, it is surely going to be a massive improvement over the Z Fold6.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Display

The Find N5 boasts an 8.12-inch LTPO OLED inner display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and 2100 Nits peak brightness. Its 6.62-inch cover display matches the specs, but hitting 2450 Nits.

The crease is so minimal you’ll barely notice it, and stylus support on both screens is a game-changer for productivity.

OPPO Find N5 screen

Samsung’s Z Fold6 counters with a 7.6-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X inner display and a 6.3-inch cover screen, both at 120 Hz and 2600 Nits peak brightness. It’s vibrant and sharp, but that crease is still a distraction, and stylus support is limited to the inner screen. For immersive viewing and a smoother experience, the Find N5 takes the lead.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Performance

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite (3nm, 7-core), the Find N5 is a beast, paired with up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. It’s optimized for efficiency, and early benchmarks suggest it outpaces the Z Fold6’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy (4nm, 8-core) with 12 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage.

OPPO Find N5 chip

Samsung’s chip is no slouch, but OPPO’s newer silicon and cooling tech give it an edge for gaming and heavy multitasking. Both handle daily tasks flawlessly, but the Find N5 feels future-proofed.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Software

The Find N5 runs Android 15 with ColorOS 15, offering a smooth, customizable experience and stylus-friendly features. OPPO promises five years of security updates, but its AI features are still catching up.

The Z Fold6, on Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1, brings Samsung’s ecosystem perks like DeX and Circle to Search, plus seven years of OS updates. I would call this section a draw, since OPPO’s AI suite is also decent.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Cameras

OPPO’s Find N5 sports a Hasselblad-tuned triple setup: a 50 MP wide, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a standout 50 MP 3X periscope telephoto with a larger sensor for better zoom and low-light shots. Dual 8 MP selfie cameras round it out.

OPPO Find N5 cameras

The Z Fold6 has a 50 MP wide, 12 MP ultra-wide, and 10 MP 3X telephoto, plus a 10 MP cover selfie and 4 MP under-display camera. Samsung’s video recording (8K@30fps) edges out OPPO’s 4K@60fps, but the Find N5’s periscope and processing give it a photography advantage.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Battery and Charging

The Find N5 packs a massive 5,600 mAh Si/C battery, dwarfing the Z Fold6’s 4,400 mAh. With 80W wired (full charge in 50 minutes) and 50W wireless charging, OPPO’s ahead. Samsung offers 25W wired (50% in 30 minutes) and 15W wireless—decent, but much slower. For all-day power and quick top-ups, the Find N5 is unmatched.

OPPO Find N5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6: Verdict

The OPPO Find N5, at ₹1,61,000, is a premium foldable with a stunning design, near-invisible crease, top-tier performance, and unbeatable battery life. It’s not available in India yet, but it’s a tempting import.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, at ₹1,49,999, offers a great software experience, stylus support, and longer software updates. If I were to pick a foldable between the two, I would pick the Find N5. What about you? Which one would you pick? Let me know in the comments below.
