The OPPO Find X9 Ultra Has Two 200MP Cameras Because Why Not?

The dream camera phone. That is the only way to describe what the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is shaping up to be. The Find X8 Ultra (review) was my favourite camera phone of the year, and everything about the X9 Ultra suggests OPPO is not just refining that formula. This looks like the Ultra of all Ultra phones.

200MP Main Camera + 200MP Super-Large 3X Mid-Telephoto

Multiple reports, now backed by leaks from Digital Chat Station, paint a very clear picture of OPPO’s intent. The Find X9 Ultra is confirmed to feature two 200 MP cameras. The main camera uses a 200 MP super-large 1/1.12-inch Sony sensor. That alone puts it in rare territory.

The second 200 MP unit is where things get truly aggressive. It is a periscope mid-telephoto, reportedly sitting around 60 mm, which translates to roughly 3X. The sensor size is said to be around 1/1.28-inch, which is massive for a telephoto camera. That’s just as large as the main camera on the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review).

This mid-telephoto is also expected to support a 10 cm telemacro, making it one of the most versatile lenses ever planned for a phone. It’s genuinely insane how OPPO engineers have managed to fit such hardware in a smartphone.

Alongside this, the Find X9 Ultra is expected to offer 3.7X and 6X in-sensor zoom options.

50MP 10X True Optical Zoom

At the long end, OPPO is bringing back something the industry has largely abandoned. A true 10X periscope camera. Yes, you read that right. This ultra-telephoto is tipped to use a 50 MP sensor.

Experts suggest a sensor size around 1/2.76-inch, likely Samsung’s JN5. We have already seen how capable this sensor class can be on phones like the OnePlus 15 and the Reno14 Pro, which makes its inclusion here even more exciting.

Context matters here. Samsung’s last true 10X camera appeared on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (review), using a 10 MP periscope with a tiny 1/3.52-inch sensor and an f/4.9 aperture. Samsung then ditched 10X entirely in favour of a 5X setup on the S24 Ultra (review) and S25 Ultra.

OPPO’s approach is the complete opposite. A much larger 50 MP 10X sensor, paired with a powerful mid-telephoto, makes this look vastly more ambitious. This will also enable 20X in-sensor zoom, delivering the best zoom on any smartphone ever.

The full leaked camera stack is as follows.

  • Ultra-wide camera with a 1/2.75-inch sensor at 50 MP.
  • Wide main camera with a 1/1.12-inch Sony sensor at 200 MP.
  • Telephoto camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, most likely Sony, at 200 MP.
  • 10X ultra-telephoto camera with a 1/2.75-inch sensor at 50 MP.

The native and lossless focal length coverage is just as wild.

  • Ultra-wide at 0.6X.
  • Main camera at 1X, 1.2X, 1.5X, and 2X.
  • Telephoto at 3X, 3.7X, and 6X.
  • Ultra-telephoto at 10X and 20X.

Digital Chat Station also notes that the native focal length extends to 230 mm, with high-quality output reaching up to 460 mm. They describe this entire setup as a generation ahead of anything else planned right now, and outright call it ultimate camera phone performance.

How is it Compared to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra?

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

Comparisons with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra are inevitable. Xiaomi’s continuous zoom system, reportedly spanning 75 mm f/2.39 to 100 mm f/2.96 on a huge 1/1.4-inch sensor, is undeniably impressive. But it lacks telemacro and may even be a step back from the 100 mm f/2.6 setup on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It is innovative, but it does not feel as complete or as exciting as what OPPO is building here.

OPPO Find X9 Ultra Launch Date

The Find X9 Ultra is expected to launch in Q1 2026, and OPPO has already begun teasing the device. More importantly, there is strong expectation of an India launch this time, which would be a major shift for the Ultra series.

Innovation Like This is What Keeps me Excited About Smartphones

Find X8 Ultra

On paper, this is not just an upgrade. This is OPPO attempting to redefine what a camera phone can be. Two 200 MP cameras, a super-long 10X periscope, massive sensors across the board, and no obvious compromises. If this lands even close to what the leaks suggest, the Find X9 Ultra will not just be the best Ultra phone. It could be the camera phone everything else gets compared to in 2026.
