Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco has launched a new tablet in India: the Poco Pad 5G. The feature-loaded tablet ships with a massive 12.1-inch 120Hz screen, a quad-speaker system, and a capable Snapdragon processor for handling day-to-day multitasking or graphic-intensive tasks. It is only 7.5m thick and comes with an IP52 rating. The tablet does resemble the Redmi Pad Pro launched earlier this year, but we’ll give it to Poco for making the same specifications available at a more affordable price. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Poco Pad 5G.

Out of the box, the Poco Pad features a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD screen that supports 120Hz refresh rate (adaptive) and 600 nits of peak brightness. The display supports Dolby Vision content. It also features a TUV Rheinland Triple Certification and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass (although the company doesn’t specify which one). Complementing the large screen is a quad-speaker system that supports Dolby Atmos, two microphones, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for those who prefer wired headphones.

Under the hood, the Android tablet runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC with four 2.4GHz performance cores and four 1.95GHz efficient cores. The chipset is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage (microSD card up to 1.5TB also supported). The Poco pad 5G runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS based on Android 14, which offers features like lock screen customization, a cleaner quick controls center, an improved Gallery app, more features for monitoring privacy and security., and excellent connectivity with other devices running the same operating system.

On the back, users get an 8MP (f/2.0) camera with Focus Frame; on the front, there’s an 8MP (f/2.3) selfie shooter. Both cameras can record videos in 1080p at 30 fps. What’s good is that the selfie camera is situated on the longer side of the tablet, like the flagship iPads and Samsung tablets. Powering the tablet is a massive 10,000 mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging and can last up to 16 hours of HD video playback.

Connectivity options on the tablet include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. The tablet also supports the Poco Smart Pen for taking notes on the go and the Poco Keyboard (without a touchpad).

Poco Pad 5G features HyperOS

The Poco Pad 5G is available at a starting price of Rs. 23,999 for the baseline model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Those looking for more storage can go with the 256GB storage variant that costs Rs. 25,999. The tablet is available in two colors: Pistachio Green and Cobalt Blue.

The price mentioned on Flipkart’s landing page for the tablet includes a Rs. 3,000 discount via SBI, HDFC, and ICICI bank cards, as well as an additional student discount of Rs. 1,000. However, the discounts are only applicable if you get the tablet on August 27. The sale begins at 12 PM on the same day.
