The Indian government is being strict with the adult content that is being shared online via multiple websites. Recently, the government has issued orders to block 67 pornographic websites in reference to the court orders and for violating the new IT rules that were issued in 2021.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) has asked the internet service providers to block 63 websites as per the Pune court orders. The other four websites are blocked due to the orders of the Uttarakhand court, along with the directions issued by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).
The IT Rules 2021 invoked by MeitY mandates the IT companies to remove or disable access to content that shows any individual in full or partial nudity or depicts individuals in any sexual acts or conducts. The content that shows impersonated or artificially morphed has to be removed from online platforms.
