Call it Project Moohan or the Samsung Galaxy XR, Samsung’s first mixed reality headset is set for launch on October 21, 2025. The Korean tech giant will position this device as a competitor to the Apple Vision Pro, and by extension, to the Meta Quest 3 to some extent. Ahead of the headset’s official launch, almost everything about it is available in the wild. So, without any further ado, let’s have a look at every little detail about the Galaxy XR headset.

Samsung Android XR: Specifications (Leaked)

Design

With regards to the design, the Samsung Android XR headset is said to feature soft cushioning for extended comfort, keep the weight off the face via the rear strap, and weigh 545 grams, making it slightly lighter than the Vision Pro. The Meta Quest 3, however, is even lighter.

Display

The most recent leak about Samsung’s mixed-reality headset comes from Android Headlines. It suggests that the device will feature 4K micro-OLED panels providing a combined total of 29 million pixels (with an effective pixel density of 4032 ppi), making it sharper than Apple’s Vision Pro.

Processor & Sensors

Under the hood, the headset will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, which can render a resolution of up to 4.3K (90 fps) per eye. The device is rumored to feature six front-facing cameras, along with multiple sensors that detect hand gestures, eye tracking (via four eye-tracking cameras with infrared LEDs), voice control, and a depth sensor.

On the software side, the device will run on Google’s Android XR platform, with a Samsung-customized One UI XR interface on top. Furthermore, we’ve also heard that the device will feature Google’s Gemini AI assistant, allowing users to interact with it hands-free, and possibly a revamped visual representation of the assistant. Samsung’s user interface will provide access to native apps, such as Camera and Gallery, as well as third-party apps like YouTube, Netflix, Maps, and the Play Store.

Battery

Thanks to the cameras and the sensors, users will be able to interact with the device using their hands, eyes, and voice. The device will pack a battery that lasts up to 2.5 hours of video playback or two hours of general use, which is in line with what the Vision Pro lasts on a single charge. Additional hardware on the headset includes stereo speakers, four microphones, and removable light shields.

As mentioned earlier, the device will be unveiled on October 21, 2025, with pre-reservations starting on October 15 in South Korea. Eventually, the device is also expected to reach global markets. Regarding pricing, it could be priced around $2,500 in the global markets.
