Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 Chipset: First Smartphone Revealed

Leading chipmaker Qualcomm has announced the next SoC in the Gen 6 series. Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC has been launched that is fabricated on a 6nm process and is a 5G-enabled chipset. The SoC is expected to power mid-range devices and features Kyro cores and is paired up with Adreno GPU. Motorola G85 is expected to be the first smartphone to feature the chipset.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 3: Features

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 is built on a 64-bit architecture and comes with Kyro cores that have a peak frequency of up to 2.3GHz. The SoC comes with an AI Engine that supports Qualcomm Sensing Hub for security and gives access to AI-driven camera capabilities, voice recognition, and more.

It comes with Bluetooth 5.2 support along with Qualcomm’s proprietary TrueWireless Technology. In terms of display, the chipset supports 120Hz FHD+ panels but doesn’t offer HDR or 4K video playing functions. It is equipped with X51 5G model to give up to 2.5Gbps download speeds and it also supports FastConnect 6200 and WiFi 5 802.11 a/ac networks.

The devices powered by Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 will be able to feature LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The processor also allows quick charge 4+, QZSS, Galileo, Beidou, GLONASS, GPS, and NavIC. The SoC has Spectra triple ISP which means support for multi-camera photo and video captures along with AI-enhanced low-light imaging features. It can support up to 108MP sensors and 720p video recording at 120fps.

The Moto G85 which is expected to have its global launch soon might be the first to come with Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. It was seen on Geekbench listing with an octa-core processor and an Adreno GPU which might be Snapdragon 6s gen 3 with 2.3Ghz clock speed and Adreno GPU.

The renders of the device show brass, dark grey, and blue color options. It is expected to have a 6.67-inch P-OLED panel, 50MP main sensor, Android 14 OS, 5000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging as well. Moto G84 is expected to be one of the lightest devices with a weight of 173 grams.
