TL; DR
  • Qualcomm teases “Dual 8 Elites” ahead of Snapdragon Summit, running September 22-24 in Maui.
  • Rumors point to a standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a separate “Pro” variant.
  • The Pro chip is expected to power select “Ultra” phones like the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Qualcomm has confirmed that its next Snapdragon Summit will introduce two distinct flagship chips, not one like every year. The chipmaker has teased the announcement with the phrase “Dual 8 Elites” and promised “twice the options” for the smartphone market.

What Qualcomm Actually Teased

The teaser, posted on X, frames the reveal as the “next chapter” in Qualcomm’s “agentic AI era.” It is accompanied by a short video showing two unnamed chips alongside gameplay footage from a title called NTE (Neverness to Everness).

Qualcomm highlighted improved connectivity, “advanced camera functionality,” and a stronger GPU built for “immersive gaming experiences” as key traits shared by both chips. However, it stopped short of naming one, instead pointing to Snapdragon Summit for more details.

A Standard Chip And A “Pro” Variant

Rumors already point to this pairing being the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. The Pro variant is reportedly reserved for “Ultra”-tier phones, which might include Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra, alongside several Chinese flagships like the successors of the iQOO 15, OnePlus 15, and the Xiaomi 17.

Early speculation suggests the Pro chip could use a 2+3+3 CPU core arrangement, built on TSMC’s 2nm process, and potentially paired with an Adreno 850 GPU. The regular version could power other smartphones that are relatively affordable.
