Qualcomm, without any fanfare, has introduced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor, which is going to serve as the replacement for the Snapdragon 778G Plus. The processor producing brand launched this one with an announcement on the official product page. The performance of the CPU has been improved by a few points, from 2.5GHz to 2.7GHz, as compared to its predecessor. Not only this, but the GPU of the chipset is also 10% faster than what we saw in the older processor.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor is based on the 6nm process and comes paired with the Kryo 670 and the Adreno 642L. In the official post published by Qualcomm, the company has mentioned some of the highlights, including boosted performance, simultaneous capture from three cameras with processing up to two gigapixels per second, enhanced AI, Sub-6GHz frequencies, and smooth connectivity support for mmWave.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G processor details

Apart from the above-mentioned specs, Qualcomm has also mentioned a few features that comprise the ability to capture HDR10+ videos in over 1 billion shades of colour, 120FPS burst capture, and Bluetooth 5.2 audio. The processor obviously comes with 5G network support, and it also has Qualcomm Sensing Hub that offers an Always-On display and a low-power AI processor. The maximum on-device display resolution that the chipset can handle is an FHD+ display and 144Hz refresh rate.

However, one thing we want to say here is that the processor is not a big development as compared to its predecessor Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC. Both the processors are based on the 6nm process along with Kryo 670 and Adreno 642L. As of now, we are not sure about which smartphone will be the first one to ship with the latest Snapdragon chipset. Expectations are that the Honor 80, which is going to launch today, could work on the same processor.
