TL; DR
  • realme India has confirmed that the realme 16 Pro and the realme 16 Pro+ will launch officially in the country on January 6, 2026.
  • As seen in the teasers, the realme 16 Pro models should be available in four colors: Master Gold (likely the signature finish), Master Gray, Camellia Pink (16 Pro+), and Orchid Purple (16 Pro).
  • Based on our understanding, both phones will feature bright AMOLED displays with a punch-hole cutout, support a 120Hz refresh rate (likely LTPS), and higher peak brightness for better visibility in direct sunlight.
  • With the dedicated zoom camera, the realme 16 Pro+ should provide up to 120x zoom.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer realme is set to launch the next iteration of its popular number series in 2026. In the first week of January 2026, we’ll see the realme 16 series, with two models: the realme 16 Pro and the realme 16 Pro+

Both will target the premium mid-range segment, implying the company should deliver a superior display, performance, optics, and battery experience. There’s plenty of information that we already know, along with a couple of solid rumors. So, without any further ado, let’s start with the realme 16 Pro roundup.

realme 16 Pro Launch Date

realme India has confirmed that the realme 16 Pro and the realme 16 Pro+ will launch officially in the country on January 6, 2026. The smartphones will likely be available via Flipkart and the company’s official website. Although we don’t know about the smartphones’ retail pricing, they could be priced around Rs. 30,000.

realme 16 Pro Design

As seen in the teasers, the realme 16 Pro models should be available in four colors: Master Gold (likely the signature finish), Master Gray, Camellia Pink (16 Pro+), and Orchid Purple (16 Pro).

Both Pro models feature a square-shaped protruding camera module on the back panel with what appears to be a triple camera setup (two in the horizontal plane, a blacked-out cutout, and another below them). Although we can’t confirm, the phones appear to have a shiny metal frame.

realme explains how the phones adopt the brand’s new “Urban Wild” design language, enhancing their aesthetics and premium build quality. While the details are still under wraps, the phones could include top-tier IP ratings.

realme 16 Pro Display

About the realme 16 Pro’s screen, the company writes “Unmatched Glow, Endless Horizon” on the official microsite. From what we can tell, both phones will feature bright AMOLED displays with a punch-hole cutout, support for a 120Hz refresh rate (likely LTPS), and higher peak brightness for better visibility in direct sunlight.

For reference, the realme 15 Pro features a 6.8-inch OLED screen with 6,500 nits of peak brightness, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a pixel density of 453 ppi. The realme 16 Pro should be an improvement over this phone.

realme 16 Pro Performance

Per the images published on the official microsite, the realme 16 Pro will feature a MediaTek Dimensity chipset (the company should follow a careful approach here, or otherwise the realme 16 Pro might be a downgrade in terms of performance).

In contrast, the realme 16 Pro+ will be powered by a Snapdragon chip (likely faster than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the realme 15 Pro). Both models should offer multiple RAM and storage configurations, ranging from 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage (UFS 3.1).

Out of the box, both smartphones will run on realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16.

realme 16 Pro Optics

From what I can tell on the official website, the realme 16 Pro will feature a 200MP primary camera with optical-quality 2x and 4x zoom. On the other hand, the realme 16 Pro+ will combine the 200MP primary camera with a 50MP periscope camera that provides 3.5x optical zoom.

With the dedicated zoom camera, the realme 16 Pro+ should provide up to 120x zoom. Furthermore, the handset supports 4K FullFocal HDR recording, allowing users to record at 1x, 2x, and up to 7x. In addition, the device will support 4K60 video recording on both the front and rear cameras, a new tracking algorithm, and 4K Motion Photo capture.

Both handsets will benefit from the LumaColor algorithm, which should better balance colors and brightness to produce more vivid, brighter pictures. The algorithm also focuses on skin tone optimization, depth-of-field control, and lighting reconstruction.

Other features include AI Edit Genie 2.0, AI LightMe, and AI StyleMe.

realme 16 Pro Battery

While there’s little to no information about the realme 16 Pro’s battery capacity and charging speed, the handsets should come with around 7,000 mAh batteries. That way, they’ll offer one of the largest batteries in the segment, leveraging its capacity as a unique selling proposition.

To complement the massive batteries, the handsets should also support fast wired charging.

realme Buds Air 8

Alongside the realme 16 Pro and realme 16 Pro+, the brand will also release the Buds Air 8 in Gold, Dark Gray, and Purple.

Regarding the earbuds’ specifications, they’ll feature a dual-driver setup with 11mm + 6mm drivers, up to 55 dB ANC, support for Hi-Res Audio, LHDC Bluetooth codec, and AI-powered Sound Master.
