Realme has been rapidly growing in India and the young spin-off from Oppo recently made it to the top 10 OEMs globally as per the latest counterpoint report. Still, the brand is in no mood to slow down and is all set to reveal its 64MP quad-camera innovation in India on August 8.

Realme took to Twitter to share the information about its upcoming launch. It posted, “Get ready to witness some of the world’s first in smartphone camera technology at the #realme camera innovation event. Stay Tuned as we #LeapToQuadCamera and reveal the world’s first 64MP Quad Camera technology on a smartphone.

If you recall last month Realme India CEO Madhav Seth dropped the first bomb when he shared that they will soon introduce the world’s first camera phone with 64MP GW1 sensor in India. A couple of months back Samsung announced 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor for smartphones, and that’s what Realme has confirmed to use on the upcoming phone.

Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor works on the same principle as other popular 48MP sensors. Four pixels are combined into one, resulting in 16MP resolution images with sharper details and wide dynamic range (Samsung claims 100db), especially in bright outdoor lighting.

Of course, Realme isn’t the only. Xiaomi and Samsung are also allegedly working on a 64MP camera phone under its Redmi sub-brand. Seeing the popularity of 48MP camera sensors, this was always the obvious next step.

Last month Realme introduced its Realme X which featured Sony’s 48MP IMX 586 sensor. The phone is based on Snapdragon 710SoC with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
