What essentials should a smartphone have? An outstanding camera, seamless performance, and a vibrant display, correct? Yet, if the device’s battery cannot last throughout the day, what is the use? In such situations, users are forced to carry an adapter or search for a charger if they lack one. Thankfully, brands are working to address this issue for their customers, all while maintaining an appealing design. With this objective, realme has introduced its latest smartphone, the realme GT 7T, in the Indian market.

The realme GT 7T is equipped with a robust 7,000 mAh battery, ensuring that you can scroll through Instagram all day, play games, take photos, and more without the concern of your battery depleting. Additionally, this mid-range smartphone offers features such as a 120 Hz AMOLED display, a Dimensity 8400 Max chipset for seamless performance, and a 32 MP selfie camera.

Nonetheless, the question persists: is this smartphone as powerful in reality as it appears on paper? To determine this, we used the smartphone for several days and evaluated every feature. Let’s examine each specification of the realme GT 7T thoroughly.

realme GT 7T Review: Design and Build

The realme GT 7T features a visually appealing design, particularly in the Racing Yellow color, which closely resembles the hue of the realme logo. When you hold it, the leather finish on the back provides a tactile experience that helps prevent smudges. Although this color isn’t my personal favorite, it may appeal to Gen-Z consumers.

I appreciated its slim profile of 8.8mm and a weight of 205 grams, especially considering the large 7,000 mAh battery, which ensures the phone doesn’t feel cumbersome. Thanks to the leather finish, the realme GT 7T delivers a solid grip in hand.

If I had the choice, I would opt for the IceSene Black color variant. Besides these two options, the realme GT 7T is also available in IceSense Blue. For these two colors, realme has incorporated IceSense graphene cooling technology. The back panel, made of a graphene layer, includes a glass fiber layer that facilitates efficient heat dissipation.

realme asserts that this design provides 24 times better thermal conductivity compared to standard fiberglass covers and 6 times better than glass covers. Therefore, whether engaged in intense gaming or demanding tasks, the device seldom overheats. Additionally, the IceSense design ensures that the phone maintains a comfortable temperature for users based on the weather, meaning it will feel cool during summer and slightly warm in winter.

The leather finish variant also remained cool during our usage and testing period, which is quite impressive given the Indian summer season.

The side frames feature a matte finish and a flat design, contributing to a boxy design language; however, you will not encounter any issues while using or holding this device. The rear panel includes a slightly protruding camera module, but this bump is less pronounced compared to others in the segment, ensuring it does not wobble when placed on a flat surface.

A weight of 205 grams may seem heavy, yet during use, it did not feel bulky or cause any problems due to its balanced weight distribution.

The upper edge contains the IR blaster, a noise-canceling microphone, and the grille for the secondary speaker, while the right edge features the power button and volume controls. The power button is adorned in a golden hue, adding an appealing touch. The lower edge is equipped with the SIM tray, a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and the speaker grille.

realme GT 7T Review: Display

The realme GT 7T features a massive 6.8-inch AMOLED display that is both large and visually appealing. It offers a resolution of 2800×1280 pixels, supports HDR10+, achieves an HBM brightness of 1800 Nits, a peak brightness of 6000 Nits, and displays 1.07 billion colors.

realme GT 7T

The display features four color profile modes: Vivid, Natural, and Pro Mode, which includes Cinematic and Brilliant. Each mode offers a distinct tone and color representation on the screen. We primarily used the Natural Mode, which highlights true-to-life colors and crisp visuals. While the dynamic range may not match that of high-end smartphones, I have no issues with it, given the price.

The display offers a 120 Hz high refresh rate, resulting in a smooth user interface experience. We primarily utilized the 120 Hz refresh rate settings, where YouTube streaming operates at 90 Hz, and app transitions occur at 120 Hz. The difference between the two is minimal, as both provide a smooth experience. It is advisable to keep it in Auto Mode, as it automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on the application in use, which also helps conserve battery life. There is no LTPO this time though, like the realme GT 6T.

Another appealing aspect of the display is its ultra-slim bezels, a feature that is not commonly found on many flagship devices these days. This enhancement significantly improves the experience of consuming OTT content or watching videos.

Overall, the display of the realme GT 7T is satisfactory, and I encountered no problems with brightness levels either.

realme GT 7T Review: Software

realme GT 7T

The realme GT 7T runs on the most recent realme UI 6.0, which is built on the Android 15 operating system. This OS offers users a fresh and seamless AI-focused experience. Notably, the realme GT 7T is among the first in its category to guarantee 4 OS updates and 6 years of security patches.

This time, realme has integrated valuable AI features into the software. The most intriguing one is the AI Planner, which allows users to generate an automatic schedule based on time, location, and the content shown on the screen. Simply tap the back of the phone twice, and your schedule will be saved. Whether it’s a social media event, planning through chat, or making bookings via email, the AI Planner gathers information from various sources to create a personalized schedule for the user.

The camera app also offers several beneficial AI features. Among these are AI Glare Removal, which eliminates unwanted reflections or shine from photos, and AI Landscape+, designed to enhance cloudy and hazy images, making them sharper and clearer. It also helps you with composition and framing.

Additional AI features include the AI Gaming Coach, AI translator, AI Eraser 2.0, and tools based on Google Gemini. In summary, the realme GT 7T offers a great software experience, despite the pre-installed bloatware (most of which can be uninstalled though).

realme GT 7T Review: Performance

realme GT 7T

The realme GT 7T is equipped with an octa-core Dimensity 8400 Max chipset, making it an excellent choice for high-end gaming and overall performance. It is available in two configurations: 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage and 12GB RAM with 512GB of storage. I tested the premium version of this smartphone, and I can confidently say that its performance is outstanding.

We played BGMI Mobile on this device, and the gaming experience was seamless, whether engaging in online multiplayer or playing a graphics-intensive single-player game. The device demonstrates its capabilities in all scenarios. The most impressive aspect is that I did not encounter any lag during extended gaming sessions, nor did the device overheat, which is remarkable for this price range.

The daily usage tasks presented no issues, whether utilized for extended photography sessions or multitasking; it continues to perform reliably. We also conducted several benchmark tests, and the results are provided below.

realme GT 7T Review: Cameras

The realme GT 7T is equipped with a dual rear camera configuration, which is commendable given the device’s price point. It boasts a 50MP primary Sony IMX896 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. This sensor captures detailed images in bright daylight. We even conducted a comparison with photos taken from a high-end smartphone.

The images produced display quite accurate colors, and you will appreciate the daylight photos. However, when comparing its dynamic range to that of any premium device, you may notice it falls slightly short, yet it remains a good option considering its price.

The device is equipped with an 8MP ultrawide OV08D10 sensor. Typically, the colors produced by ultrawide sensors in mid-range smartphones differ from those of the primary sensors, resulting in varied output. However, not in this case. The images captured with this sensor display natural colors and closely resemble those taken with the primary sensor. The level of detail is also satisfactory.

The device additionally provides 2x in-sensor zoom, which is most effective for portrait photography. The images are rich in detail, although they occasionally display slightly inaccurate colors.

The device features a 32MP IMX615 sensor for selfies, which excels in low-light environments indoors. It captures every hair strand and facial detail, resulting in highly detailed selfies.

In the default mode, facial imperfections are softened while maintaining a natural appearance. The skin tone is rendered accurately, and the background blur effect is effectively managed to produce optimal results.

In totality, the realme GT 7T’s camera in this segment is reliable and decent.

realme GT 7T Review: Battery Life and Charging

realme GT 7T

The standout feature of the realme GT 7T is its impressive 7,000 mAh Titan Battery, which gives it an advantage over competitors in the mid-range market. You can rest assured that you won’t need to recharge it throughout the day. Additionally, realme provides 120W ultra-fast charging capabilities for rapid recharging. This smartphone is the world’s first mid-range device equipped with a 7000mAh battery and ultra-fast charging support.

The realme GT 7T is also outfitted with Smart Bypass charging. This feature allows the device to receive charging directly to the motherboard during intense gaming sessions, preventing overheating and protecting the battery while maintaining a normal phone temperature. Additionally, the smartphone has received a TUV Rheinland 5-Star Certification for its battery.

About the battery performance, it can last nearly 2 days after a full charge. We played a High-Quality YouTube video on loop for 3 hours, and the battery only depleted by about 18%, which is quite remarkable. Included in the package is a 120W adapter that charges the battery from 20% to 100% in approximately 40 minutes.

Review Verdict: Should You Buy the realme GT 7T?

The realme GT 7T is designed for users who seek a smartphone that excels in all areas—be it camera quality, display, performance, or battery life. It features a substantial 7000mAh battery that can comfortably last up to 2 days, and its 120W fast charging capability allows for rapid recharging. The device is equipped with the Dimensity 8400 Max chipset, which guarantees smooth multitasking and gaming experiences without any delays. Additionally, the slim bezels around the display enhance the immersive experience for streaming.

While the camera setup may not provide premium-level detailing, the output remains satisfactory given the budget constraints. Regarding software, realme is committed to delivering 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches, a rarity in this price range.

The realme GT 7T is an excellent smartphone that meets various needs and can serve as a dependable companion. However, if your main concern is the camera quality, you might want to invest a bit more in alternative options. Otherwise, it meets nearly all the criteria of a solid mid-range device. If you prioritize a large battery, seamless performance, and a basic camera setup, along with a device that caters to everyday requirements, the realme GT 7T stands out as a commendable all-rounder.
