TL; DR
  • The realme GT 8 Pro features a 6.79-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 3136 x 1440 pixels resolution (508 ppi), and a peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits (limited to 2,000 nits HBM brightness).
  • Interestingly, the phone also features an interchangeable exterior camera module (not the lenses). So, you can either go around with the circular exterior camera shell by unscrewing it and replacing it with the square-shaped module.
  • The realme GT 8 also features the same display as the realme GT 8 Pro, which is a good thing. However, under the hood, the entry-level flagship features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which powers the previous-generation Android flagships, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Xiaomi 15, the OnePlus 13, iQOO 13, etc.
  • The phone also features a triple-camera setup, but it includes an inferior ultrawide and telephoto sensor. It’s worth mentioning that the regular version doesn’t include a detachable/replaceable camera decor module.

The realme GT 8 series is now available in China, marking a bold new chapter for the company’s flagship portfolio. Positioned as performance-centric smartphones, both the realme GT 8 and the realme GT 8 Pro offer top-tier specifications, vibrant and sharp displays, and a massive battery that could power through an entire day of regular usage. realme GT 8 Pro: Specifications & Key Features

The realme GT 8 Pro features a 6.79-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 3136 x 1440 pixels resolution (508 ppi), a peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits (limited to 2,000 nits HBM brightness), and support for up to 144Hz variable refresh rate. Additional features include support for HDR and Dolby Vision formats.

Under the hood, the flagship runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC (3nm), an octa-core CPU paired with Adreno 840 GPU, the Hexagon NPU, up to 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage (UFS 4.1). Out of the box, the device runs on Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16.

Regarding optics, the phone features a triple-rear-facing camera setup with a new entrant to the mix.

  • Primary camera: 50MP (f/1.8, 1/1.56″, OIS) Ricoh GR anti-glare primary camera
  • Secondary camera: 200MP (f/2.6, 1/1.56″, OIS) sensor for 3x optical zoom
  • Tertiary camera: 50MP (f/2.0, 116° field-of-view) ultrawide
  • Front camera: 32MP (f/2.4)

The main highlight of the camera setup is the new 200MP optical zoom sensor. By default, the sensor provides a 3x optical zoom range with no loss in quality. Furthermore, the high-resolution sensor should also help with zoom at a higher zoom range. In theory, the sensor should be able to provide 100MP resolution at 6x zoom, 50MP resolution at 12x zoom, and so on. The phone can go all the way up to 120x digital zoom.

Interestingly, the phone also features an interchangeable exterior camera module (not the lenses). So, you can either go around with the circular exterior camera shell by unscrewing it and replacing it with the square-shaped module. The company has also played around with the material of the exterior camera casing (as seen in a video), including the one with a transparent and polished finish.

Powering the handset is a 7,000 mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The realme GT 8 also features the same display as the realme GT 8 Pro, which is a good thing. However, under the hood, the entry-level flagship features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which powers the previous-generation Android flagships, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review), the Xiaomi 15 (review), the OnePlus 13 (review), iQOO 13 (review), etc.
