realme GT 8 Pro vs iQOO 15: Table of Content

The battle for the best-value flagship is heating up once again, and two names are leading the charging: the realme GT 8 Pro and the iQOO 15. Both smartphones share a near-indentical core with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, UFS 4.1 storage, bright displays, high-resolution cameras, and a massive battery. However, there are a couple of differentiators that set the phones apart. This comparison breaks down their key differences across various aspects so that you don’t have to squint at the specifications sheets and spend hours deciding which one suits you best.

Both the realme GT 8 Pro and the iQOO 15 share a similar silhouette, characterized by flat edges, rounded corners, and a flat front/back panel. Another similarity is the presence of the punch-hole screen.

However, it is the back panel that helps differentiate between the two phones. The realme GT 8 Pro, for instance, features a replaceable camera module (via screws), allowing you to use either the circular or square-shaped camera casing. On the other hand, the iQOO 15 features a squircle camera module with RGB lighting around it.

Between the two phones, it is the iQOO 15 that has a bigger screen. The realme GT 8 Pro isn’t far behind, but the different is noticeable. Though both the phones share their display technology, a variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and their pixel density, the local peak brightness of the realme GT 8 Pro is higher, while in the HBM mode, it is the iQOO 15 that takes the lead.

Both phones also share an instantenous touch sampling rate of 3,200Hz. The GT 8 Pro support full DC + hardware-level dimming, while the iQOO 15 supports 2,160Hz PWM dimming along with DC dimming. The support for HDR formats, such as Dolby Cision and HDR10+ is also standard.

realme GT 8 Pro vs. iQOO 15: Processor

Secondary ChipR1 graphics chipQ3 esports chip

Both the Chinese brands have equipped their latest performance and gaming-centric flagships with Qualcomm’s best chipset to date: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The octa-core chipset includes two 4.6 GHz prime cores, the Adreno 840 GPU, Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Other than the Snapdragon processor, the GT 8 Pro includes a dedicated R1 gaming chip. Acting as a co-processor, the chip handles independent frame interpolation, resolution enhancement, and display rendering tasks, boosting gaming frame rates up to 144Hz. Other than improving gaming performance, the chip helps reducing latency and prevents the main processor from heating up.

Similar to the R1 gaming chip, the iQOO 15 also includes a Q3 espots chip. It is built on a TSMC ultra-low power process and provides super resolution, super-frame interpolation, and real-time ray tracking, operating as the second-in-command to the Adreno 840 GPU. With the powerful Snapdragon processor and the Q3 chip, the iQOO 15 promises native 2K rendering at 144FPS for several games.

With similar chips, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage, the smartphones should perform similarly on AnTuTu V10 and GeekBench 6 benchmarks. However, leaked scores suggest that the iQOO 15 is every so slightly better with the mutli-threaded CPU test and the AnTuTu v10 benchmark. In the real-world, users shouldn’t notice any performance differences between the two phones. Both of them can handle high-end video games and 4K video editing on the go.

Out of the box, the realme GT 8 Pro runs on realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16, offering enhanced customization options, a refined user interface, and smoother animations. Other key features include AI-driven optimizations, Smart Sidebar, better Quick Launch section, Game Mode 7.0 which optimizes gaming performance with network acceleration. Other key features include Dynamic Themes, custom fonts, and support for dual-channel 4K video recording.

In contrast, the iQOO 15 runs on OriginOS 6, which is also based on Android 16. Key features of the custom user interface include smart AI optimizations, advanced gaming features such as game space, AI-powered camera enhancements, split-screen multitasking, and system-level optimizations for smoother animations and faster app response times. Check out more details about the OriginOS 6’s release here.

The realme GT 8 Pro includes a bigger 200MP periscope telephoto camera that provides 3x optical zoom and up to 12x lossless zoom using a Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor. The primary camera, on the other hand, is a Ricoh-GR tuned sensor with a bigger aperture than the one on the iQOO 15. The phone can record 8K video at up to 30 fps with HDR, 4K videos at 120 fps, and features a 32MP selfie shooter.

The iQOO 15 also includes a 50MP triple-rear-facing camera, but that was an impressive setup for 2024. With the help of its telephoto camera, the phone provides up to 100x digital zoom, but the realme GT 8 Pro goes all the way up to 120x. Despite all the processing power from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the phone can only record 4K video in 60 fps (and not 120 fps), though 8K at 30 fps is also possible.

Given that both the flagships provide the same battery capacity (with the same processor), buyers should expect a pretty similar battery life from both of them. There could be some minor differences based on the hardware-software optimization, but in totality, we’re looking at over a day’s worth of usage time between charges. It’s worth noting that the realme GT 8 Pro supports faster wired and wireless charging than the iQOO 15.

realme GT 8 Pro vs. iQOO 15: Connectivity Options

Both the realme GT 8 Pro and the iQOO 15 provide support for 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v6.0, dual-band GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port. Both the phones also include an IR blaster.

The realme GT 8 Pro stands out as the feature-rich and visually distinctive option. Its customizable back design with interhchangeable camera modules adds flair to its otherwise subtle design. It also leads in the local peak brightness brightness, faster wired and wireless charging, and a higher-resolution 200MP periscope camera that should provide more details at higher zoom levels. Add to that the realme UI 7 interface and you get a phone that balances the raw processing power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with additional capabiliites. For users who value style, camera flexibility, and charging sSpeed, the GT 8 Pro is a smarter bargain.

The iQOO 15 doubles down on what the brand does best — equipping its smartphones with sheer performance and gaming prowess. Its combination of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen and the dedicated gaming chip ensures smoother frame rates and ultra-low latency for long gaming sessions. While its 50MP triple-rear-camera system might not sound as fancy as the GT 8 Pro’s 200MP periscope sensor, the flagship still balances results with OriginOS 6, a massive battery with fast wired/wireless charging speed, and a well-rounded user experience.
