In January 2024, we will see a lot of smartphone brands release new models, such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Poco, OnePlus, etc. Most recently, Realme uploaded a teaser on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), suggesting that the brand is also gearing up to drop a new smartphone.

Realme Teases A Flagship With A Periscope Lens

On December 28, 2023, Realme India uploaded an image showcasing a rectangular periscope lens, with the text “No Periscope, No Flagship” written at the bottom. In the image, there also seems to be a regular ring around the camera sensor. This suggests the company could launch a flagship with a periscope camera in the country. Such sensors provide extended room range without losing quality for those catching up.

Could It Be The Realme GT 5 Pro?

Earlier this month, the brand launched the Realme GT 5 Pro in its native market. It is Realme’s first smartphone with a 50MP (f/1.7) periscope sensor that provides up to 2.7x optical zoom. Hence, it seems the brand will release the GT 5 Pro in India. However, elsewhere, the Indian tipster Abhishek Yadav suggests otherwise.

Tipster Suggests The Teaser Belongs To Realme 12 Pro+

Per the tipster, the teaser image belongs to the Realme 12 Pro+, which will come out at the end of the next month or early February 2024. Yadav also suggests that the smartphone will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset, most likely the 7s Gen 2 SoC. What’s odd is that this would make the smartphone a mid-ranger, unlike what Realme suggests in the tweet.

Reports suggest the upcoming Realme 12 Pro+ will come with an OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. We’ve already seen this particular sensor on high-end flagships like the Vivo X100, OnePlus 12, and the iQoo 12.

The Realme 12 Pro+ Has Already Got A BIS Certification

Another reason the teased smartphone could be the Realme 12 Pro+ is that a model with this moniker recently received a BIS certification. The model number of the model in question is RMX3840. Besides, the Realme 12 Pro has also appeared on the certification website, indicating that both models could launch soon.
