As expected, Realme launched its first Snapdragon 730G-powered phone, the Realme X2 in homeland China on September 24. The handset is very similar to Realme XT that we recently reviewed, save for a couple of differences.

In India, Realme is pitching XT as an independent series to the notch-less X (review) and will introduce X2 as Realme XT 730G later in December.

Realme X2 Price and availability

In China, the Realme X2 starts at CNY 1,599 (~Rs. 16,000) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option. As mentioned above, the X2 will launch in India as Realme XT 730G this December. The handset is expected to undercut Xiaomi Redmi K20 and have a sub-20k starting price.

  • Realme X2 (6GB + 64GB) – CNY 1,599 – Approx. Rs. 16,000
  • Realme X2 (8GB + 128GB) – CNY 1,899 – Approx. Rs. 19,000

Realme X2 Features

Compared to Realme XT, the Realme X2 upgrades the chipset (Snapdragon 730G vs Snapdragon 712) and has a higher resolution selfie camera (16MP vs 32MP). X2 also gets faster VOOC 3.0 charging (30W vs 20W).

Realme also employs high-quality LPDDR4X RAM and fast UFS 2.1 storage. So, essentially, this should be a great option for mobile phone gamers – which is a huge community in India.

Other than that, the Realme X2 has a 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor led quad-camera, which we didn’t find to be a massive upgrade over the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor.

The Color OS6.0 OS remains a bottleneck, but fortunately for Indian buyers, Realme will replace it with its own close-to-stock-Android Realme OS very soon (perhaps with the Realme XT 730G itself?).
