Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain has teased a new upcoming Xiaomi phone which is believed to be the Redmi 9. If that’s the case, it could very well be a rebranded version of Redmi 9C as the original Redmi 9 that was launched in China earlier has already bean launched in India as Redmi 9 Prime.

In his tweet, Manu asked his followers to guess what could be next Redmi phone by listing previous Redmi products with 9 moniker and their launch timeline.

Jain refrained from mentioning the launch date, but the upcoming Redmi phone is expected to launch in the first week of September.

Redmi 9: What to expect?

If Xiaomi is indeed planning to offer Redmi 9C as Redmi 9 in India then you can expect it to be powered by MediaTek Helio G35 SoC which we last saw in Realme C15. Like the Redmi 9C, the Redmi 9 could come with a dual rear camera setup and a 5MP selfie shooter at the front. Xiaomi is expected to offer a microSD card slot as well as 5,000mAh battery in this affordable phone.

We expect the Redmi 9 to be available in Midnight Grey, Sunrise Orange, and Twilight Blue colour options. The Redmi 9C is priced roughly around Rs 7,500 for the 2GB RAM+ 32GB ROM variant in Malaysia. One can expect Xiaomi to price Redmi 9 competitively in India (under INR 10K).
