TL; DR
  • The timing of the teaser and the Duster’s return is equally important, especially since Tata just launched a similar campaign for the new Sierra, with deliveries beginning in January 2026.

Renault India has released a new teaser video for the much-anticipated, new-generation Renault Duster. Ahead of the mid-sized SUV’s launch on January 26, 2026, the automaker has uploaded a nostalgic teaser, focusing less on the new car and more on the older version (to instill a feeling of nostalgia).

A Nostalgic Teaser For A Familiar Nameplate

While the original Duster launched over a decade ago, it helped define the modern, monocoque SUV segment in India. The timing of the teaser and the Duster’s return is equally important, especially since Tata just launched a similar campaign for the new Sierra, with deliveries beginning in January 2026.

Clearly, the company wants to evoke fond memories among the original Duster enthusiasts and early adopters. While the teaser doesn’t reveal any new information about the 2026 Duster, it does hint at the latest design cues, including the standout LED lighting elements on the rear and a more modern silhouette.

Moreover, the new Duster combines the moniker’s legacy with contemporary styling. While the official specifications and features aren’t available yet, we’ve already compiled a comprehensive roundup of the 2026 Renault Duster.

Expected Powertrain And Positioning

As mentioned in our roundup, the new Duster could debut with a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 156 PS and 250 Nm. The engine should be paired with a six-speed manual or CVT transmission.

The vehicle will compete with popular models including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Kia Seltos, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Hence, the company should be cautious with the pricing.
