According to a recent report by the Korean Media giant TheElec, Samsung will use Qualcomm’s chipsets for about half of its upcoming smartphones and tablets in 2022.

As per plans, Samsung aims to launch 64 new smartphones and tablets in 2022, and 31 of them are planning to use Qualcomm’s chipsets. Out of the rest, 20 will reportedly use Exynos SoCs which will be jointly developed by Samsung Electronics and AMD. 14 will be powered by chipsets from MediaTek and the remaining 3 will feature UNISOC chipsets.

It is a point to be noted that the flagship Galaxy S22 Series will use not only Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 (or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) but also Exynos 2200 depending on the market. Not only that, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will exclusively use Snapdragon 898 SoC.

Galaxy S22 Fan Edition which is going into production during Q3 next year will use Exynos 2200, whereas S21 FE will use both Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 chipsets.

Qualcomm Chipsets for upcoming Samsung phones

Meanwhile, low-end models like the Galaxy M33 and the Galaxy A33/53 will use Exynos chipsets. Galaxy A13 will also use Samsung’s self-made chipsets but Galaxy A32, M32, A02, and A03 will use chips by MediaTek.

Last but not least, Samsung tablets viz. Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will use Exynos 2200 SoCs.

Although these are said to be the current plans of Samsung, if the shortage of chips continues, these might have to change. This year too Samsung has faced a lot of difficulty in procuring chipsets from Qualcomm due to shortage.
