Samsung recently announced a 64MP sensor and was rumored to soon arrive within a Galaxy device. Though some early rumors put the money on Note 10, that was rebutted then and there. Now, we have reports from the South Korean media claiming that Samsung is currently working on a Galaxy A70S which could wield the 64Mp ISOCELL Bright sensor.

A70S- ring a bell? Yes, it is expected to be Samsung Galaxy A70’s (review) successor. If you would recall, A70 was launched back in April with a 32MP camera front and back while the rear panel also included an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5MP depth-sensing camera.

So, Galaxy A70S could be the world’s first phone to come with a 64MP camera. This would up the game from the current trend- 48Mp shooters. While most devices sport the 48Mp sensor made by Sony, Samsung’s own GM1 sensors pack the same number of pixels. Samsung introduced the next iteration- GM2 48-megapixel sensor as well alongside the 64Mp GW1.

Besides their high resolutions, the new sensors bring improved low-light performance, better brightness, refined color accuracy, and Super Phase Detection autofocus. They will be using Tetra Cell technology for binning four 0.8μm pixels to produce less-noisy 16MP in dark conditions. Alternatively, it could capture better-detailed 64MP photos in brightly lit conditions as well.

Additionally, you could also capture full HD clips at 480 frames per second (fps).  The GW1 could produce real-time HDR of up to 100dbs, which is 40db higher than a conventional sensor.

Samsung 5X Optical Zoom

Samsung has lately launched a camera-centric Exynos 9609 chipset as well as a 5x optical zoom sensor is under production. Samsung CEO DJ Koh had shared with CNBC last year that the company would “bring technology and differentiation points starting from the mid-end.”

Ergo, the probability is on the upper side for this report to be concrete. The source also purports the Samsung Galaxy A70S to launch during the second half of 2019. Currently, there is no information on the locations. That said, we could be sure only when an official byte comes from the company’s end.
