The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could feature a Snapdragon chipset after all. The South Korean tech conglomerate ditched its in-house Exynos chipsets for the Galaxy S23 series, as users like the Qualcomm chips better. However, a couple of days ago, reports claimed that Samsung could fall back to its Exynos lineup of chipsets, particularly the Exynos 2400 SoC, for the Galaxy S24 lineup. While that could be the case, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely be an exception.

S24 Ultra To Stick With Snapdragon Chipset

Per @Tech_Rever, the S24 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC regardless of the region. A few days ago, reports claimed that the company would switch entirely to Exynos for its upcoming launch. Although the information about the Galaxy S24 Ultra has surfaced after conflicting leaks about the Galaxy S24 lineup showed up online, it would make sense once we start to put everything together.

The Galaxy S24 series will comprise three smartphones: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. While the Galaxy S24 will be the most affordable, the S24 Plus will offer a larger screen and battery, while the S24 Ultra will offer the best specifications. Hence, it is likely that the company will limit the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to the best variant while pushing its Exynos 2400 SoC in the regular and the Plus variants.

Exynos 2400 Vs. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Regarding Samsung Exynos 2400 SoC, it will be based on the company’s 4nm fabrication technology. The chipset could offer a 10-core CPU with a high-performance core clocked at 3.10GHz and support for UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5X RAM. However, it is not the performance that makes the Exynos chips lag but their efficiency. In the past, we’ve seen that Samsung phones with Snapdragon processors can retain peak performance for more while remaining more battery-efficient.

As per leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will have a 3.7GHz prime core, five performance cores, and two efficient cores, offering a significant performance leap over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It is worth mentioning that Qualcomm hasn’t announced the much-awaited chipset as of August 31, 2023. However, leaks claim that it will come out in October 2023.
