Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra is already making waves ahead of its expected January launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event next year. According to well-known leaker Ice Universe, one of the biggest upgrades to watch out for is the ultrawide camera.
Currently, the Galaxy S24 Ultra (review) sports a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with a 1/2.55” sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. While decent, it’s not exactly top-tier anymore, especially when compared to some of the ultra-wide sensors found in Chinese flagships.

Samsung seems to have taken this feedback seriously, as the Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to feature a significant bump in this department. This move could be seen as Samsung’s response to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is also rumored to get a significant ultra-wide camera upgrade.
The upgraded ultrawide camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to jump to a 50 MP sensor. The sensor size increase is minimal—going from 1/2.55” to 1/2.52”. The new sensor will also feature 0.7µm pixels, down from the previous 1.4µm. Oh, and the aperture is getting larger—f/1.9, up from f/2.2.
Ice also said that this new ultra-wide sensor will be the only significant upgrade. As for the rest, the main camera remains a 200 MP HP2 with just a small process upgrade. The 3x telephoto lens sticks with a 10 MP IMX754, and the 5x telephoto keeps the 50 MP IMX854 sensor, both unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s dimensions have also been leaked—162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm. The device will be 0.5 mm taller but 1.4 mm narrower and 0.4 mm thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
As always, stay tuned for more leaks and official details as we get closer to the launch.
