Samsung is gearing up to unveil a couple of new devices this year, including the most-anticipated Galaxy Ring, the next-generation Galaxy foldables, and the Galaxy Watch 7 series. The latest information from the grapevine comes from a known publication, which claims that the Korean giant will release three models in the Galaxy Watch 7 series this time, with an upgraded SoC.
Get Ready For Three Samsung Galaxy Watches This Year
According to a new report by SamMobile, Samsung is working on three Galaxy Watch 7 variants. Per the information available, these will include the familiar Classic and Pro versions and an unknown variant. The publication also believes the new variant could come with a square display compared to the circular dials on the previous models. Until now, Samsung has stuck to two models in their lineup, which includes a regular Galaxy Watch, a Classic variant, and another Pro variant (with the latter two getting alternate refreshes). However, if the information is anything to go by, this will be the first time the company has released three Samsung Galaxy watches simultaneously.
Exynos W940 SoC Could Be The Real Game-Changer For Galaxy Watch 7 Series
Previously, rumors have indicated that the Galaxy Watch 7 will feature a new Samsung Exynos chipset. It’s becoming more apparent that the chipset could be the Exynos 5535, which could be marketed as the Exynos W940 SoC. This particular processor could give Samsung’s Galaxy watches an edge over its competition, and here’s why. The Exynos W940 SoC is expected to be 50 percent more power efficient than its predecessor, the Exynos 930 SoC.
In our review of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, we mentioned how the battery lasts about 42 to 45 hours on a single charge, with an always-on display. If Exynos W940 is indeed 50 percent power efficient, it could extend the battery life by a significant margin, taking it up to at least 60 hours with similar parameters, not just for the Classic variant but for all the models in the Watch 7 series. This, in turn, will give Samsung’s wearables an advantage over its competition, such as the Apple Watch Series 9, Pixel Watch 2, and the OnePlus Watch 2.
We’ve also heard rumors that the Exynos W940 SoC could be the first chip to use the company’s 3nm foundries. Along with improved power efficiency, the Galaxy Watch 7 should offer 30 percent better performance than the previous model, allowing it to handle more complex apps. This should make the chip comparable with the 4nm Snapdragon Wear SoC used by other watches.
When Will Samsung Launch The Galaxy Watch 7?
Samsung usually revamps the Galaxy Watch series once a year during its second Galaxy Unpacked event in July. Last year, the company released the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5 series at the July Unpacked event.
